Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 25

Russian troops stepped up their assaults along the entire front line. Over the past day, 202 combat clashes were recorded at the front, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Russian forces intensified strikes in all key directions, using missiles, aircraft, kamikaze drones, and artillery.
The enemy carried out:
- 4 missile strikes (6 missiles),
- 77 airstrikes using 130 guided aerial bombs,
- 5,837 shellings, including 130 with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS),
- and launched 2,997 kamikaze drones.
Airstrikes were conducted in the following populated areas:
- Zapsillia, Sumy region;
- Kupiansk, Kharkiv region;
- Novopavlivka, Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Dovha Balka, Donetsk region;
- Novopavlivka, Mezhova, Dnipropetrovsk region;
- Olhivske, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia region;
- Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Kherson region.
Ukraine's response
Over the past day, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck five areas where enemy personnel, weapons, and equipment were concentrated, as well as three artillery systems and one other critical enemy target.
Situation by directions
Kharkiv direction: The enemy attempted to break through AFU defenses five times near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Kamianka, and Dvorichna settlements.
Kupiansk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Kolisnykivka, Kruhliakivka, and Zahryzove.
Lyman direction: 16 enemy assaults were recorded near Nove, Novomykhailivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, Hrekivka, Yampilivka, and toward Hryhorivka and Bilohorivka villages.
Kramatorsk direction: The enemy carried out four attacks near Kurdiumivka and toward Bila Hora and Predtechyne.
Toretsk direction: The enemy attempted to storm AFU positions 21 times near Romanivka, Ozarianivka, Krymske, Druzhba, and Toretsk.
Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian forces repelled 61 assaults in the areas of Shevchenko Pershe, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka.
Novopavlivka direction: The enemy attacked AFU positions 30 times near the villages of Novopillia, Zelene Pole, Vilne Pole, Bahatyr, Vesele, Burlatske, and toward Odradne.
Orikhiv direction: The enemy attempted five assaults in the areas of Stepove and Novodanylivka settlements.
Prydniprovskyi direction: The enemy made two unsuccessful attempts to advance.
Kursk direction: The Defense Forces held back the invader, who over the day launched 8 airstrikes (12 aerial bombs), carried out 281 shellings (13 with MLRS), and conducted 43 assaults.
Siversk and Huliaipole directions: No combat engagements recorded.
Volyn and Polissia directions: No signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.
Russian losses in war
According to reports, Russian invaders lost 1,130 personnel in the past day.
In addition, Ukrainian forces destroyed:
- 11 tanks,
- 47 troop-carrying AFVs,
- 36 artillery systems,
- 5 MLRS,
- 2 air defense systems,
- 232 operational-tactical UAVs,
- 232 vehicles and 1 unit of special equipment.
