Russia's losses in Ukraine as of May 24: +1,130 troops and a lot of equipment

Ukrainian defenders eliminated another 1,130 Russian invaders over the past day and destroyed a significant amount of enemy military equipment. In particular, the Defense Forces took out 11 tanks, 47 armored combat vehicles, 36 artillery systems, 5 multiple launch rocket systems, 2 air defense systems, and 232 enemy UAVs, according to the Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to May 24, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 979,830 (+1,130) Russian troops were eliminated

- troop-carrying AFVs - 22,622 (+47)
- artillery systems - 28,201 (+36)
- MLRS - 1,395 (+5)
- anti-aircraft systems - 1,169 (+2)

Situation on the front line
In its evening report on May 23, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that 150 engagements had taken place on the front line since the beginning of the day.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces also noted that the highest number of enemy attacks and assaults is now being recorded in two directions — Pokrovsk and Kurakhove, where enemy activity has intensified.
In its report published on May 24, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated, in particular, that the Ukrainian Defense Forces had recently advanced near Toretsk. At the same time, Russian occupying forces have made gains near Novopavlivka and Kurakhove.
