Increase in fighting on front lines - during May 19 and until evening, 156 combat clashes were recorded, compared to 130 and 131 in the previous one or two days. Russia continues to concentrate the greatest efforts on the Pokrovske direction, according to the Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military command reported on the operational situation across various directions as of 10:00 PM Kyiv time on May 19.

Russian strikes

Russian forces carried out 50 airstrikes, using 100 guided aerial bombs.

They also deployed 1,117 kamikaze drones and conducted 4,146 shelling attacks on positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and populated areas.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice near Vovchansk and toward Kutkivka.

In the Kupiansk direction, three Russian forces assaults were recorded near Zahryzove and toward Pishchane.

In the Lyman direction, 22 attacks by Russian forces near Yampilivka, Kopanky, Novomykhailivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Hlushchenkove, Karpivka, Serebrianka, Yampil, Hryhorivka, Novyi Myr, Ridkodub, and Olhivka. One battle is still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, Russian forces advanced four times on Ukrainian defenders near Verkhniokamyanske, Bilohorivka, and toward Hryhorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, six attacks from Russian forces near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, Kurdiumivka, and toward Predtechyne.

In the Toretsk direction, 13 battles were recorded near Toretsk, Novospaske, toward Dyliivka and Ivanopillia; three clashes are still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces conducted 59 attacks near Myroliubivka, Zvirove, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novoseriivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, Andriivka, and toward Zorya, Novoukrainka, Stara Mykolaivka, Shevchenko Pershe, Nova Poltavka, Popiv Yar, Myrnohrad, Novomykolaivka.

"According to preliminary data, 128 Russian forces were neutralized here, including 74 irreversibly," reported the General Staff.

Ukrainian forces also destroyed one satellite communication terminal, seven vehicles, four motorcycles, 16 drones of various types, one electronic warfare station, and one mortar of Russian forces. Additionally, three armored fighting vehicles and one mortar of the Russian side were significantly damaged.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 16 attacks by Russian forces near Kostyantynopol, Pryvilne, Rivnopillia, Vilne Pole, and toward Novopillia, Bahatyr, and Zelene Pole. One battle is ongoing. Russian forces struck Temyrivka and Novopillia with KAB air bombs.

In the Huliaipole direction, Russian forces carried out airstrikes on Huliaipole and Malynivka.

In the Orikhiv direction, four Russian forces attacks were repelled toward Mala Tokmachka and near Stepove. Stepnohirsk was hit by Russian airstrikes.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces attempted one unsuccessful advance. They also struck Kozatske with KAB bombs.

In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 10 attacks. Russian forces conducted 11 airstrikes using 26 KAB bombs and 202 artillery shellings, including seven from MLRS.

Earlier, State Border Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko reported ongoing Russian forces' attempts to break Ukrainian defenses in the Kramatorsk direction, with daily attacks unsuccessful.

On May 18, the General Staff said Russian forces are moving "elite" troops to the Kursk region instead of pushing an offensive in eastern Ukraine.

Yesterday, The New York Times reported that Russian forces are changing tactics in Ukraine, sending motorcyclists to storm Ukrainian trenches at all costs.
