Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 14

A total of 83 combat clashes have occurred across the frontlines since the start of May 14. The heaviest fighting took place in the Pokrovsk direction, with the most intense battles in the Toretsk and Lyman directions, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
The Defense Forces are holding back Russian advances and taking all necessary steps to prevent enemy forces from penetrating deeper into Ukrainian territory.
Several settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire today, including Serhiivske in Chernihiv region and Porozok, Slavhorod, Stepok, Dmytrivka, and Khliborob in Sumy region.
The most active frontline areas
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops launched 22 assaults in an attempt to dislodge Ukrainian forces from positions near Stara Mykolaivka, Yelyzavetivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka. Ukrainian forces repelled 20 of those attacks; two engagements are still ongoing. Russian aircraft also struck Pokrovsk, Filiia, Zvirove, and Dachne with guided bombs.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces carried out 16 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nova Kruhliakivka, Lozova, Novoiehorivka, Hrekivka, Kolodiazi, Yampolivka, and toward Hryhorivka. Two of those battles are still underway.
In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian assault attempts near Toretsk, Krymske, and Dyliivka, where enemy forces tried to advance.
Situation in other areas
Ukrainian forces have repelled multiple enemy attacks across several frontlines on May 14, with battles still ongoing in several directions.
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian units pushed back a Russian assault near Vovchansk, while another clash is still underway.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian troops are currently engaged in fighting near Hlushkivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attempted to advance seven times toward Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, Bila Hora, and Kurdiumivka. Two of those engagements are ongoing.
Near Bilohorivka, in the Siversk direction, Russian troops probed Ukrainian defenses in search of weak spots. Two enemy attacks were successfully repelled.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian forces launched eight assaults around Bahatyr, Novopil, and Vilne Pole. Four clashes are still in progress. Novopil was also targeted by Russian airstrikes.
In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy conducted airstrikes using unguided air-to-surface missiles on Huliaipole and Vysoke.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian assaults near Stepove.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian troops made a single attempt to advance but were pushed back.
In the Kursk direction, three clashes were recorded today, with two still ongoing. Russian forces also carried out four airstrikes, dropping three guided bombs, and conducted 140 artillery attacks.
No significant changes were reported in other directions.
Russia's losses in the war
Over the past day, the losses of the Russian army amounted to 1,240 people. Ukrainian soldiers also neutralized two tanks, 14 armored combat vehicles, 47 artillery systems, one multiple launch rocket system, three air defense systems, 82 operational and tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, and 126 vehicles.
