Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of May 14

The situation at the frontline remained extremely tense over the last day. A total of 163 combat engagements took place, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian massive attacks
Russian troops inflicted:
- 1 missile and 78 air strikes, dropping 138 guided bombs;
- over 5,000 artillery attacks, 93 of which were from MLRS;
- 2,983 kamikaze drones were used to attack Ukrainian positions and settlements.
The areas of Doroshivka and Yurievo in Sumy region, Poltavka and Rusyn Yar in Donetsk region, as well as Novodarivka, Temyrivka, Huliaipole, Vysoke, Malynivka, Kamianske, and Pavlivka in Zaporizhzhia region came under Russian air strikes.
In response, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck at 14 areas where Russian manpower, weapons, and equipment were concentrated, and destroyed one air defense system and 2 artillery systems of the Russian invaders.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, Russia attempted to advance 4 times near the settlements of Vovchansk, Topoly, and Petrivka. However, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled all of these attacks, preventing a breakthrough into the territory.
In the Kupiansk sector, 2 Russian assault attempts were registered in the areas of Pishchane and Zahryzove. Both attacks were repelled, Russians suffered losses and retreated.
The situation in the Lyman sector remains particularly tense. Over the last day, Russian occupants attacked Ukrainian positions 29 times, trying to advance in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Hrekivka, Tverdokhlibove, Novoserhiivka, Kolodiazi, Hryhorivka, as well as in the directions of Ridkodub, Lypove, Zelena Dolyna, and Olhivka. All attacks were repelled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian troops held off 3 Russian assaults in the direction of Hryhorivka.
8 combat engagements took place in the Kramatorsk sector over the last day. Russians tried to break through the defenses in the area of Chasiv Yar and towards Bila Hora
In the Toretsk sector, Russian troops attacked 6 times in the vicinity of Toretsk and the direction of Dyliivka. Ukrainian troops successfully restrained the offensive, inflicting losses on the Russian troops.
Russia was most active in the Pokrovsk sector, with 54 combat engagements taking place over the last day. Russia tried to advance in the areas of Lysivka, Malynivka, Yelyzavetivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Novoserhiyivka, Udachne, Novooleksiivka, Novooleksandrivka, Zaporizhzhia, Andriivka, as well as in the directions of Stara Mykolaivka, Muravka, Oleksiivka, Nova Poltavka, Yablunivka, Myroliubivka, Zoria, and Promen. All Russian attacks were repelled, and the Russians suffered significant losses.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian troops repelled 30 attacks in the areas of Kostiantynopil, Skudne, Rivne, Pryvilne, Vilne Pole, Shevchenko, Bahatyr, Novopil, Odradne, and in the direction of Zelene Pole. Despite the massive assaults, Russia did not achieve any tactical success.
No combat engagements were registered in the Huliaipole sector over the last day.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russia tried to advance 3 times in the directions of Novodanylivka, Stepove, and Mala Tokmachka. However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces responded decisively, and none of the attacks were successful.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 5 Russian attempts to advance. Russians suffered losses and were forced to retreat.
In the Kursk sector, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12 Russian attacks. In addition, Russia launched 18 air strikes using 34 guided bombs. Moreover, 264 artillery attacks were registered, including 11 from multiple launch rocket systems. The main targets remain the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements near the contact line.
The situation remains stable in the Volyn and Polissia sectors. No signs of the formation of Russian strike groups have been detected.
Russian losses
Ukrainian soldiers inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the Russian occupation forces and actively undermine the Russian offensive potential in the rear.
Over the past day, the Russian losses amounted to 1,240 invaders. Ukrainian troops also neutralized 2 Russian tanks, 14 armored combat vehicles, 47 artillery systems, a multiple launch rocket system, 3 air defense systems, 82 operational and tactical unmanned aerial vehicles and 126 vehicles.
