Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 21

As of April 21, there have been 121 combat engagements along the frontline, with Russian forces intensifying pressure in the Pokrovsk direction, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
The General Staff reported that since the start of the day, Russian forces launched one missile strike and 101 airstrikes, using three missiles and 177 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, Russia used 995 kamikaze drones and conducted over 4,100 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements.
In the Kupiansk direction, two enemy assaults were launched near Petropavlivka and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 17 attacks near Novе, Nadiia, Novomykhailivka, Hrekivka, Myrne, Kolodiazi, Torske, and toward Novyi Myr and Zelena Dolyna. Six more clashes are ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, there was one enemy attack toward Verkhniokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Russia launched two attacks near Markove and Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, 13 combat engagements took place. Russian forces attacked positions of Ukrainian soldiers near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Shcherbynivka. Four battles are still underway.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops launched 49 assaults in areas including Sukha Balka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Sukhyi Yar, Kotlyne, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiivka, Troitske, Tarasivka, Promin, Lysivka, Udachne, Preobrazhenka, Kotliarivka, Andriivka, and toward Oleksandropil, Novopavlivka, and Berezivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled 43 assaults, with six battles ongoing.
Russian aircraft dropped guided bombs on Oleksandropil, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Muravka.
General Staff reports 289 Russian casualties in this direction today, including 135 killed. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 7 armored vehicles,1 artillery system, 11 trucks and vehicles, 5 UAVs, 1 drone command post,1 electronic warfare station, 8 motorbikes, a tank, 5 vehicles, and 2 motorcycles.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 14 Russian attacks near Kostiantynopil, Vilne Pole, Pryvilne, Novosilka, and Rozlyv. One battle continues. Airstrikes hit Novodarivka and Dachne.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russian aircraft struck Malynivka and Zaliznychne with unguided rockets.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian troops are repelling an enemy assault near Stepove. Shcherbaky, Novoiakovlivka, and Stepnohirsk were hit by airstrikes.
In the Kharkiv and Huliaipole directions, no active offensive actions were recorded.
In the Kursk region (Russia), there were 14 combat engagements with Russian troops. Russia launched 21 airstrikes, dropped 30 guided bombs, and conducted 229 artillery strikes, including 7 from MLRS.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russia has lost more than 941,000 soldiers.
In particular, over the past day, the Russian army lost 670 soldiers. Also yesterday, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 2 tanks, 2 armored combat vehicles, 10 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment.
