Since the beginning of the day on April 21, there have already been 56 combat engagements between the Defense Forces and the occupying army on the front line. The Pokrovsk direction remains the most active, according to the General Staff of Ukraine.

Today, residents of several settlements in the Sumy region were particularly affected by enemy artillery and mortar fire. These include Zarichchia, Tymonovychi, Khrinivka, and Krasnyi Khutir in the Chernihiv region, as well as Myropilske, Zarutske, Sosnivka, Prokhody, Petrushivka, Studenok, Kucherivka, Malushyne, Bobylivka, and Bila Bereza.

In addition, enemy aircraft carried out strikes on the areas of Mariine, Krasnopillia, Vysoke, Mala Rybytsia, Myropilske, Prokhody, and Stepok in the Sumy region.

Most active combat zones

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian forces have made 22 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their positions near the settlements of Sukha Balka, Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Sukhyi Yar, Kotlyne, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Nadiivka, and Troitske.

The Defense Forces are holding back the pressure and have repelled nine attacks, while 13 engagements are still ongoing. Russian aviation carried out strikes with guided aerial bombs on Oleksandropil, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, and Muravka.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy assaults. The enemy attempted to advance near Kostiantynopil, Vilne Pole, Pryvilne, Novosilka, and Rozlyv. One engagement is still in progress. Novodarivka and Dachne were hit by airstrikes.

Situation in other directions

In the Lyman direction, the occupying forces launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nove, Novomykhailivka, Hrekivka, Myrne, Kolodiazi, and Torske. One combat engagement is currently ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy is trying to break through Ukrainian defenses near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Shcherbynivka. Two attacks are ongoing, and five assaults have already been repelled.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces repelled five enemy attacks today, two of which are still ongoing. Russian aircraft carried out 16 airstrikes, dropping 21 guided aerial bombs (FABs). The enemy also conducted over 130 artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy made one attempt to advance toward Markove but was repelled.

In the Huliaipole direction, enemy aircraft launched strikes with unguided rockets on Malynivka and Zaliznychne.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders are repelling an attack near Stepove. Shcherbaky, Novoyakovlivka, and Stepnohirsk came under airstrikes.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy conducted one assault operation, which was unsuccessful.

In the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Siversk, and Huliaipole directions, no combat engagements have been recorded as of now.

Russian losses

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has already lost approximately 941,770 soldiers. In the past 24 hours, from April 20 to 21, Russia suffered an additional 670 troop losses on the front line.

In addition, the occupying army lost military equipment over the past day. The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 2 tanks, 2 armored combat vehicles, 10 artillery systems, 30 operational-tactical UAVs, and 50 units of enemy automotive equipment and fuel trucks.
