Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 17

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces showed where the fierce fighting is taking place and reported on the situation at the front. Over the past day, 111 combat engagements were recorded, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russia conducted 109 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, dropping 177 guided bombs. In addition, Russia made almost 6,600 attacks, including 126 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 2,923 kamikaze drones.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces hit six areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, 4 air defense facilities, and 2 artillery units of the Russians.
Sectors
Kharkiv sector. Russia conducted an offensive in the area of Vovchansk yesterday.
Kupiansk sector. Russia struck 3 times. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russia's assault near Nova Kruhliakivka and Zahryzove.
Lyman sector. Russians attacked 14 times. They tried to advance near Novomykhailivka, Tverdokhlibove, Nadiia, and towards Nove, Zelena Dolyna, and Hryhorivka.
Siversk sector. Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 Russian attacks near the settlements of Verkhniokamianske and Bilohorivka.
Kramatorsk sector. 3 combat clashes were registered in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Predtechyne, and Stupochky.
Toretsk sector. Russia conducted 19 attacks near Dachne, Dyliivka, Toretsk, and Kurdiumivka.
Pokrovsk sector. Ukrainian defenders stopped 32 Russian attacks in the areas of Sukha Balka, Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Troitske, Vodiane Druhe, Bohdanivka, Andriivka, and in the direction of Stara Mykolaivka.
Novopavlivka sector. Russia tried to break through 12 times near the settlements of Kostiantynopil, Pryvilne, Rozlyv, Vilne Pole, and in the direction of Odradne.
Orikhiv sector. Russia conducted an offensive in the area of Kamianske.
Prydniprovskyi sector. Russia attempted to advance.
Kursk sector. Ukrainian defense forces repelled 17 Russian attacks yesterday. In addition, Russia launched 38 air strikes using 72 guided bombs, and also carried out 407 artillery attacks on the positions of our troops and settlements, including five with MLRS.
New Russian offensive
Earlier, Armed Forces Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi warned that Russia was preparing an offensive against the Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
Last week, Syrskyi said that Russia had launched an offensive against the Kharkiv and Sumy regions. According to him, the number of battles in all major areas has increased. The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine did not rule out the possibility that the Russians could involve DPRK troops in the offensive in northern Ukraine.
