Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 16

There were 70 combat engagements on the frontline since the beginning of the day on April 16. Russians attacked the Pokrovsk sector the most, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Kharkiv sector, the Russian attack continues near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russians tried to break through our defenses 3 times in the areas of Petropavlivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman sector, the Russian army conducted 10 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nadiia, Novoserhiivka, Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Nove, and towards Olhivka and Zelena Dolyna. Three battles are still ongoing.
Ukrainian troops repelled 5 Russian attacks in the Siversk sector, in the areas of Ivano-Dariivka, Vyimka, and Verkhniokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 4 Russian attacks in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, and Stupochky.
In the Toretsk sector, Russia carried out 8 assault actions in the areas of Toretsk and Leonidivka, 4 battles are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russian invaders conducted 20 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near the towns of Oleksandropil, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Uspenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Preobrazhenka, Troitske, Andriivka, Bohdanivka, Stara Mykolaivka, and Serhiivka. The Defense Forces of Ukraine are holding back the onslaught and have repelled 17 Russian attacks, with 3 battles still ongoing. Pokrovsk, Dovha Balka, Zoria, Nova Poltavka, Malynivka, Kalynivka and Shevchenko Pershe were hit by Russian air strikes.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Russia tried to break through the defenses of Ukrainian troops in the vicinity of Kostiantynopil 7 times. At the same time, Russian aircraft attacked the areas of Zelene Pole, Komyshuvakha, and Verbove.
In the Huliaipole sector, Russia attacked Zaliznychne and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russia attacked Ukrainian positions once near Lobkove. Lukianivske, Stepnohirsk, and Kamianske were subjected to air strikes.
Russia conducted 2 offensives in the Prydniprovskyi sector, while launching air strikes with guided bombs on Kherson.
In the Kursk sector, 5 combat clashes took place since the beginning of the day. In addition, Russia conducted 5 air strikes, dropping 12 guided bombs, and fired 190 times at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, including 3 times from multiple launch rocket systems.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost over 936,000 troops.
In particular, over the past 24 hours, the Russian army lost 1,050 soldiers. Also yesterday, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 9 Russian tanks, 13 armored combat vehicles, 87 artillery systems, 146 drones, and other Russian equipment.
