Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 12

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine informs that as of 4:00 PM on April 12 (Kyiv time), there have been 58 combat clashes on the frontlines. The heaviest fighting took place in the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions.
Enemy shelling
"Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding back the Russians' advance. The enemy continues to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with missile, air, and artillery strikes," the General Staff reports.
Today, enemy artillery and mortar fire targeted the communities of Prokhody, Hrabovske, Velyka Pysarivka, Kucherivka, Bachivsk, Bila Bereza, Pokrovka, Malushyne, Zarutske, Shalyhyne, and Luhivka in the Sumy region. Additionally, enemy aircraft dropped guided bombs on the areas of Velykyi Prykil, Petrushivka, Prokhody, Myropilske, Krasnopillia, Novodmytrivka, and Uhroidy, all also in the Sumy region.
Frontline situation
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces launched a single attack on Ukrainian positions near Zahryzove.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched nine attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Nadiia, Tverdokhlibove, Novomykhailivka, Katerynivka, Novyi, and Olhivka. Three combat clashes are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight assault attempts by Russian forces. The enemy is attempting to break through toward Predtechyne and west of Andriivka.
In the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks by the enemy near Dachne and Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces made 14 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from positions in the areas around Kalynove, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Novoserhiivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, Preobrazhenka, Sribne, and Andriivka. Ukrainian forces are holding their ground, having repelled 10 of the attacks. Four combat clashes are still ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy made three attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Kostiantynopil and toward Shevchenko.
In the Huliaipole direction, the settlement of Huliaipole was struck by aviation.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy launched three attacks toward our defenders' positions but was unsuccessful.
In the Kharkiv, Siversk, Huliaipole, and Orikhiv directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations.
In Russia's Kursk direction, there have been 13 combat clashes since the start of the day, two of which are still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy launched 27 airstrikes, dropping 47 guided bombs, and carried out 306 artillery shellings, including nine using multiple launch rocket systems.
There were no significant changes in other directions of the frontline.
The enemy's losses
As a reminder, from April 11 to 12, Russian forces lost 1,240 soldiers in battles against Ukraine. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 49 artillery systems, 78 drones, and 128 units of automotive equipment.
