Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 17

Since the beginning of March 17, there have been 143 combat clashes on the front lines. The Russian forces are primarily attacking in the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, Russian forces launched 68 airstrikes, using 101 guided aerial bombs (KABs). In addition, they deployed 940 kamikaze drones and carried out around 4,500 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian settlements.
Frontline situation
The Defense Forces successfully repelled the enemy's attempt to break through in the Kharkiv direction near Vovchansk. The enemy also launched an airstrike with guided bombs on the settlement of Lyptsi.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted nine offensive actions towards Petropavlivka, Zahryzivka, Kamianka, Zapadne, Kruhlikivka, and Bohuslavka. Two clashes are still ongoing. The settlements of Pishchane, Shabelne, Doroshivka, and Mala Shapkivka were bombarded.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled ten assaults on positions near Balka Zhuravka, Yampilivka, and in the directions of Novomykhailivka, Nove, Olhivka, Zarichne, and Zelena Dolyna.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked three times near Bilohorivka and towards Verkhniokamianske, with one clash still ongoing.
Since the beginning of the day, in the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attacked the areas of Chasiv Yar, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Stupochky, and Kurdyumivka. Five attempts by the Russian forces to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions were unsuccessful.
In the Toretsk direction, there have been 23 clashes today. The enemy stormed Ukrainian positions in the areas of Toretsk, Dachne, Druzhba, Ozaryanivka, Diliivka, and Leonidivka. Six clashes are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the enemy has attacked 43 times in the areas of Vodyane Druhe, Svyrydonivka, Promin, Novopavlivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Bohdanivka, Lysivka, and Andriivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled 36 assaults, and six clashes are still ongoing. The enemy's aviation carried out airstrikes with guided bombs on Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, Leontovychi, Zvirivka, Novoserhiivka, Horikhove, and Nadiivka.
Today, in this direction, according to preliminary data, 330 Russian soldiers have been neutralized, including 175 killed. Additionally, Ukrainian forces destroyed an infantry fighting vehicle, a cannon, two mortars, six Mavic drones, a portable electronic warfare station, two UAV control points, and eight vehicles.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks in the areas of Pryvilyne, Vesele, and Kostiantynivka. One clash is still ongoing. Airstrikes with guided bombs hit the settlements of Shevchenko, Odradne, Oleksiivka, and Rozlyv.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled ten enemy attacks in the areas of Novosilka and Novopil. Additionally, the enemy carried out bombings on the settlement of Novopil.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two enemy attacks in the areas of Stepove and Lobkove. Fighting continues in three locations.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled one enemy attack.
In the Kursk region, the Defense Forces stopped 16 assault actions by Russian forces. The enemy carried out 21 airstrikes, dropped 27 guided bombs, and carried out 289 artillery shelling, including nine from multiple rocket launch systems.
No significant changes were observed in other directions.
Russia's losses
Over the past day, missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces hit six areas where enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment were concentrated, as well as one artillery system of the enemy.
In the past 24 hours, the total losses of Russian forces amounted to 1,210 personnel. Ukrainian forces also destroyed 19 tanks, 11 armored combat vehicles, 37 artillery systems, one multiple rocket launcher system (MLRS), 54 tactical-level drones, 101 vehicles, and one unit of special enemy equipment.
