As of 10:00 PM on 16 March (Kyiv time), 99 combat engagements occurred in the frontline since the beginning of the day. The largest number of engagements was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Kursk directions, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Today, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 64 airstrikes, dropping 97 guided bombs. Additionally, they used over 900 kamikaze drones and carried out more than 4,300 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attempted to storm Ukrainian positions four times near Vovchansk, Kamianka, and toward Kutkivka. One clash is still ongoing. The enemy also carried out an airstrike on Udy.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces launched offensive actions near Petropavlivka, Bohuslavka, Lozova, Zahryzove, and toward Kupiansk. Ukrainian defenders have repelled eight out of nine enemy attacks.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian forces’ positions nine times near Novoyehorivka, Zelena Dolyna, and toward Novomykhailivka and Novyi. Three clashes are still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy assaults, where Russians attempted to advance in the areas of Bilohorivka and Ivano-Dariivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy attempted to assault Ukrainian positions three times in the area of Chasiv Yar and toward Predtechyne. Ukrainian forces repelled two attacks, and the battle is still ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy launched 14 assaults on Ukrainian positions near Toretsk and Druzhba. Currently, three clashes are ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of today, Russians attempted to advance 15 times on Ukrainian positions. They attacked near the settlements of Sukha Balka, Zvirove, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Kotlyne, Novooleksandrivka, Uspenivka, Yasenove, and Andriivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 assault attempts, and fighting continues. Pokrovsk was hit with guided bombs.

"Today, in this direction, according to preliminary data, 303 Russian personnel were neutralized, 152 of them irreversibly. Ukrainian forces also destroyed six vehicles, 11 motorcycles, two satellite communication devices, and four UAV control points. Additionally, they damaged a tank, a mortar, a motorcycle, and one vehicle," the General Staff reported.

In the Novopavlivka direction, the enemy attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses nine times near Kostiantynopil, Skudne, and Shevchenko. One clash is still ongoing. The enemy dropped guided bombs on Novopavlivka.

In the Huliaipole direction, the enemy attacked in Pryvilne, Vilne Pole, and toward Novopil. Ukrainian forces repelled all six enemy attacks. The enemy also launched unguided air missiles at Novopil, Novodarivka, and Huliaipole. Additionally, they dropped guided bombs on Shevchenko.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions six times near the settlements of Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, and Zherebianky. Fighting continues at three locations. Komyshuvakha was hit with an airstrike.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions but carried out airstrikes on Olhivka, Tokarivka, and Mykolaivka.

In Russia's Kursk direction, since the start of the day, Ukrainian forces have repelled 13 enemy assaults. The enemy also carried out 11 airstrikes, dropped 18 guided bombs, and conducted 247 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas.

As a reminder, during the previous day, from March 15 to 16, Russian forces lost 1,400 soldiers in the war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces also destroyed 78 artillery systems, 180 operational-tactical UAVs, and 113 vehicles.
