Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of March 2

As of 4:00 PM on March 2 (Kyiv time), 72 combat engagements were registered at the frontline since the beginning of the day. Russian forces continue to focus their efforts on the Pokrovsk, Toretsk and Kursk directions, informs the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
The General Staff stated that today, border cities and villages of Ukrainian country continue to suffer from Russian artillery shelling. In particular, the following settlements were affected:
- Tymonovychi in Chernihiv region
- Hirky, Korienok, Petrushivka in Sumy region
- Liutivka in Kharkiv region, which was also hit by airstrikes.
Frontline situation
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy made one attempt to advance towards Ukrainian positions near the settlement of Zahryzove, which was successfully repelled by Ukrainian defenders.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlement of Novyi and in the direction of Novomykhailivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled three enemy attacks in Chasiv Yar, Hryhorivka, and Oleksandro-Shultyne.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defensive positions 12 times in Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. Six combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, high enemy activity continues. Thirteen clashes of varying intensity took place today. Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks in Tarasivka, Promin, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Kotlyarivka, Andriivka, and Ulakly. Airstrikes targeted the settlements of Pokrovsk, Hryshyne, and Leontovychi.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Russians attempted to break through four times in the directions of Kostiantynopil and Skudne but were halted by Ukrainian defenders. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Voskresenka and Sichneve.
In the Huliaipole direction, Russian forces carried out airstrikes in Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, and Pryiutne. Additionally, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled one enemy attack near the settlement of Pryvilne.
In the Orikhiv direction, fighting continues near the settlement of Nesterianka.
In the Prydniprovsky direction, the enemy launched two assaults on Ukrainian defenders’ positions, and one combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Kharkiv and Siversk directions, the enemy has not conducted active operations since the beginning of the day.
In Russia's Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks, with eight more combat encounters ongoing. Additionally, the enemy launched 10 airstrikes, using 17 guided bombs.
Ukrainian forces are exhausting the enemy along the entire frontline and rear.
Over the past 24 hours, from March 1 to March 2, Russian troops lost 1110 troops in combat against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Ukrainian troops also destroyed 51 enemy artillery systems, 192 drones, and 117 vehicles.
