As of 4 p.m., February 22, 54 combat engagements took place at the front since the beginning of the day. Almost half of them took place in the Pokrovsk direction alone, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
Russian shellings
The General Staff noted that border settlements continue to suffer from cynical shelling from the territory of Russia. In particular, today it is Yanzhulivka and Mykolaivka in the Chernihiv region.
The situation at the frontlines
In the Kharkiv direction, the Russians attacked four times in the direction of Vovchansk, Fyholivka, and Zakhidne, and one firefight is currently underway.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian military attempted to advance near Zahryzove and was repelled.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army attacked three times near the settlements of Ivanivka, and Yampolivka, and in the Serebryansky forest, Ukrainian defenders repelled the Russian attacks.
Ukrainian defense forces repelled the invaders' assaults three times near Bilohorivka in the Siversk direction.
Six Russian attacks near Vasiukivka, Stupochky, and Bila Hora in the Kramatorsk direction were repelled by Ukrainian troops.
In the Toretsk direction, three combat engagements are currently underway, with a total of seven attacks by the Russians near Toretsk and in the direction of Dyliivka. Kostiantynivka came under an air strike.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the Russian forces have made 23 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Novotoretske, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Dachenske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Andriivka and Ulakly. The defense forces are holding back the Russian offensive and repelled 21 attacks, two firefights are still ongoing. Russia's losses are being clarified. Russian troops launched air strikes on Myroliubivka, Zvirove, and Pokrovsk.
Today, in the Novopavlivka direction, the Russians attacked four times near Kostiantynopil and Burlatske. Novopavlivka came under an air strike.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian troops repelled an attack in the vicinity of Piatykhatky.
The Russian Army did not conduct any active offensives in the Huliaipole and Prydniprovsky directions.
In the operational area in the Kursk region, Ukrainian Armed Forces units repelled two attacks by the Russian military over the day. The Russians carried out 12 air strikes, dropped 19 guided bombs, and fired over 200 times, including seven times from multiple launch rocket systems.
The situation did not change significantly in other frontline areas.
As of the morning of February 22, 2025, Russia has already lost 866 thousand soldiers since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 15 tanks and 139 vehicles over the past day, bringing the enemy's total combat losses to 230 units per day.
