Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 25
More than a hundred battles took place along the frontline today. Russian militants continue to use aviation and drop guided bombs, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
The General Staff emphasized that the Russian military continues to carry out attacks in all directions of the east and south of Ukraine. Ukrainian Defense forces are holding the line and taking the necessary measures to prevent a breakthrough. Since the beginning of the day, the total number of combat engagements along the entire front line has increased to 123.
The invaders do not stop using artillery on the territories of the regions bordering Russia: the areas of Bachevsk, Turia, Stepok, Riasne, Myropilske, Porozok, Oleksandrivka, Khodyne in Sumy region; Yasna Poliana in the Chernihiv region; and Tymofiivka in the Kharkiv region came under fire.
At the same time, seven militant assault actions took place near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Hlushkivka, and Lozova in the Kupiansk direction, and one firefight is still ongoing.
The situation on the frontlines
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops are attacking in the areas of Tverdokhlibove, Novoserhiivka, Shyikivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, Druzhelyubivka, Hrekivka, Pershotravneve, Kopanky, and in the directions of Novolyubivka, Makiivka, Zelena Dolyna and Torske. Since the beginning of the day, there have been 25 combat engagements in this sector, nine of which are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 27 Russian attempts to advance near Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora, 13 firefights are currently underway.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian military attacked Ukrainian troops' positions in the vicinity of Toretsk eight times. Four firefights are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian army attacked Ukrainian troops' positions 32 times today in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Zelene, Udachne, Novooleksandrivka, Kotlyne, Bohdanivka, Andriivka, Shevchenko, Dachne, Ulakly and Kostiantynopilske, nine of the attacks are still ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled eight attacks in the vicinity of Novosilka, Novodarivka, Kostiantynopil, and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Orikhiv, Huliaypole, Prydniprovskyi, Kharkiv, and Siversk directions, Russians did not conduct any offensive actions since the beginning of the day.
Fifteen combat engagements took place in the Kursk direction today, and seven of them are still ongoing.
Russians carried out 17 air strikes, dropped 33 guided aerial bombs, and fired 266 artillery shells, including six from multiple rocket launchers.
Russian losses at the front
Over January 24-25, the Russian army lost more than 1,600 soldiers, 37 armored combat vehicles, and 51 UAVs at the front.
Moreover, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian Armed Forces have recaptured the lost positions near Toretsk. Nevertheless, the invaders advanced in six directions in Donetsk and Kursk regions.
