Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 23

Since the start of January 23, the total number of combat engagements along the entire frontline has risen to 82. The intense fighting continues in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Kharkiv direction, one combat engagement occurred today. Enemy aviation carried out strikes with guided bombs on Kozacha Lopan, Turove, and Mali Prokhody; Krasnyi Yar was hit with unguided air-to-surface missiles.
In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five enemy assaults near Dvorichna, Zahryzove, and Petropavlivka, with three battles still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked three times near Zelenyi Hai and Kopanky. One engagement is still ongoing. Borivska Andriivka was struck by unguided air-to-surface missiles.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy assault near Ivano-Darivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy launched two assaults on Ukrainian positions, with fighting ongoing near Chasiv Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, eight enemy attacks were launched near Dyliivka, Krymske, and Toretsk. Fighting continues. Enemy forces also used guided bombs to strike Kostiantynivka and Nelipivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction since the start of the day, the enemy has launched 45 attacks in areas near Vodiane Druhe, Myroliubivka, Myrnohrad, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Uspenivka, Andriivka, Shevchenko, Dachne, Ulakly, and Yantarne. Ukrainian forces have already repelled 35 of these attacks, with fierce battles ongoing. Airstrikes were reported in Ulakly and Oleksiivka.
In the Novopavlivka direction, three enemy assaults have already been repelled. Overall, the enemy attacked five times near Novodarivka, Kostiantynopil, and Velyka Novosilka. Additionally, airstrikes were carried out in Andriivka, Novopil, Novodarivka, and Kostiantynopil using guided bombs.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy assaults, with four engagements still underway. The enemy also carried out 14 airstrikes, dropping 24 guided bombs, and launched 275 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and infrastructure in Russian territory.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, Russia has lost over 825,000 military personnel since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
In the past 24 hours alone, Russian forces' losses amounted to 1,340 people.
Additionally, Ukrainian forces destroyed 6 tanks, 12 armored fighting vehicles, 62 artillery systems, 72 operational-tactical UAVs, and other enemy equipment yesterday.
