Russia's losses in Ukraine as of January 23: +1,340 troops, 72 drones, 62 artillery systems
As of the morning of January 23, the Russian army had lost 1,340 soldiers in 24 hours. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost 825,320 soldiers, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 23, 2025, are estimated to be:
- personnel - about 825,320 (+1,340) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 9,850 (+6);
- armored personnel vehicle - 20,497 (+12);
- artillery systems - 22,256 (+62);
- MLRS - 1,262;
- anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1,050;
- airplanes - 369;
- helicopters - 331;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 23,111 (+72);
- cruise missiles - 3,051;
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 34,905 (+68);
- special equipment - 3,714 (+3).
Situation at front
As of the evening of January 22, 103 combat engagements took place at the frontline. More than half of them occurred in the Pokrovsk sector in the Donetsk region. In particular, the Russians tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 55 times near 13 settlements and in the direction of three more.
In addition, Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational and tactical group of troops, recently reported that the Russian occupation forces had changed their tactics of attacking Pokrovsk. The Russians are trying to bypass the city from the west through small villages and forest plantations, as well as to damage Ukrainian logistics.
