Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 22

There were 121 combat engagements in the frontline over the last day. The most difficult area remains Pokrovsk, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit 16 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, two command posts, four warehouses, two artillery facilities, and one other important Russian object.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, Russians tried once to break through the defensive lines of Ukrainian defenders near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk sector, 10 attacks took place yesterday. Ukrainian troops repelled Russia's assault near Dvorichna, Petropavlivka, Lozova, Kutkivka, and Nova Kruhliakivka.
Russians attacked 13 times in the Lyman sector. They tried to break into the Ukrainian defense near the settlements of Kopanky, Terny, and Kolodiazi.
In the Siversk sector, Russians conducted offensive actions in the area of Ivano-Daryivka, repelling one attack in total.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russians attacked 6 times near Chasiv Yar and Fedorivka.
In the Toretsk sector, Russians carried out 6 attacks in the area of Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 61 Russian attacks towards the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Hryshyne, Novoserhiivka, Petropavlivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Myrnohrad, Novyi Trud, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Uspenivka, Slovianka, Sribne, Shevchenko, Andriivka, Ulakly, Yantarne, Dachne.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Russians conducted 8 attacks in the directions of Vremivka, Kostiantynopil, and Velyka Novosilka over the past day.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces once near the village of Kamianske.
Ukrainian troops are making efforts to prevent the Russians from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory, successfully repelling 3 Russian offensives in the Prydniprovskyi sector.
Russians did not conduct any active operations in the Huliaipole sector yesterday.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations in the Kursk region. Yesterday, Russians carried out 23 air strikes, downing 31 unmanned aerial vehicles, and fired 450 times, including 16 times from multiple rocket launchers. Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 Russian assaults.
Situation at the front
Russia continues to advance on the frontline and exert pressure in several directions. Thus, the Russians are concentrating their forces in the area of Pokrovsk, where most of the fighting is taking place.
In addition, fighting is taking place in Chasiv Yar, Toretsk, and near Velyka Novosilka. Russians have recently become more active near this settlement.
There are also active battles in the Kursk region, where Russians are trying to push Ukrainian forces out and have brought in North Korean troops to help.
