Russian forces have once again intensified pressure on Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region. This is not the first attempt by the enemy to capture the settlement, reports the UK Ministry of Defence on X.
"In central Donetsk region, Russian forces have intensified pressure on the town of Velyka Novosilka," the report states.
Russian occupation forces have advanced northward to capture the villages of Neskuchne and Vremivka, the latter located west of Velyka Novosilka.
British intelligence highlights that Russia's attempt to seize the town in summer 2022 failed, and in 2023, Ukraine pushed Russian forces southward.
"Russia’s advance on this axis followed its capture of other towns in the east, including Vuhledar in October 2024 and Kurakhove in January 2025," the intelligence added.
