Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 21

On January 20, there were 152 combat clashes along the frontline, with almost half of the fighting taking place in the Pokrovsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.
"Over the past day, aviation, missile forces, and artillery of the Defense Forces struck 22 areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated, 11 command posts, 10 artillery systems, four air defense systems, four military-technical depots (with ammunition, fuel, and lubricants), and nine other important targets of the Russian occupiers," the General Staff wrote.
Frontline situation
- Kharkiv direction: Three clashes occurred near Vovchansk.
- Kupiansk direction: Eight enemy attacks were recorded near Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Lozova, and Zahryzove.
- Lyman direction: Russians attacked 15 times, attempting to advance near Nadiia, Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, Kopanky, Nevske, Terny, and other areas.
- Siversk direction: One enemy attack was recorded near Verkhniokamianske.
- Kramatorsk direction: Nine clashes occurred in the area of Chasiv Yar and toward Stupochky.
- Toretsk direction: Russians launched 17 attacks near Toretsk, Krymske, Dyliivka, Shcherbynivka, and Ozaryanivka.
- Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian defenders repelled 73 enemy attacks in the areas of Vodiane Druhe, Myroliubivka, Promin, Yelyzavetivka, Myrnohrad, and more.
- Novopavlivsk direction: Seven enemy assault operations were recorded.
- Prydniprovsk direction: The Ukrainian military stopped four enemy attacks in the Dnipro River delta island zone.
- Kursk direction: Defense Forces repelled 11 Russian attacks.
Russian losses
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost over 822,000 military personnel. Yesterday, Russia's losses amounted to approximately 1,600 soldiers. In addition, the Defense Forces destroyed:
- 12 Russian tanks;
- 23 armored combat vehicles;
- 60 artillery systems, among other equipment.
