In the 24 hours from January 20 to 21, Russian forces lost 1,600 soldiers, nearly 300 units of military equipment, and 130 UAVs operational-tactical level on the frontlines, reports the Ukrainian General Staff.

The total combat Russian losses from February 24, 2022, to January 21, 2025, are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 822 030 (+1600) Russian troops were eliminated;
  • tanks - 9833 (+12) units;
  • armored personnel vehicle - 20 477 (+23) units;
  • artillery systems - 22 134 (+60) units;
  • MLRS - 1,262 units;
  • anti-aircraft warfare systems - 1050 (+1) units;
  • aircraft - 369 units;
  • helicopters - 331 units;
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 22 898 (+130) units;
  • cruise missiles - 3,051 units;
  • warships/boats - 28 units;
  • submarines - 1 unit;
  • vehicles and fuel tanks - 34 682 (+194) units;
  • special equipment - 3710 (+4) units.

Situation at the front and Russian attacks

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the invaders achieved success on three fronts in the Donetsk region over the past day.

The Russian army has also increased shelling of the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, aiming to force the Ukrainian Armed Forces to guard the state border in these areas.

Additionally, explosions were heard in Dnipro on the morning of January 21, amid the threat of ballistic weapon attacks.
