Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 7

Since the beginning of the day on January 7, there have been 128 clashes on the front. Russian forces are focusing their efforts on the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, as well as in the Kursk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Kharkiv direction, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy assaults near Tykhe. One combat clash is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance three times toward our positions in the areas of Holubivka and Petropavlivka.
The aggressor also increased the number of attacks to nine in the Lyman direction. Attacks occurred near the settlements of Novoserhiivka, Nadiya, Pershotravneve, Cherneshchyna, Makiivka, Zarichne, Ivankivka, and Terny. Three combat clashes are ongoing.
Today, in the Siversk direction, the enemy attacked five times in the direction of Bilohorivka, with one combat clash continuing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, our defenders repelled six enemy attacks in the areas of Vasiukivka, Bondarne, Chasiv Yar, and Stupochky. Five combat clashes are ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attempted to advance three times near Toretsk. Currently, one battle is ongoing.
With the support of aviation, in the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy initiated 28 clashes of varying intensity. Our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Tarasivka, Vodyane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Sukhyi Yar, Zelene, Novyi Trud, and Pokrovsk. Five combat clashes are still ongoing.
Fierce battles continue in the Kurakhove direction. Near Sribne, Andriivka, Kurakhove, and Dachne, our defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks during the day.
In the Vremivka direction, the aggressor attacked our defenders' positions 14 times in the areas of the settlements of Yantarne, Kostiantynopil, Novosilka, and Pryvilne, with four combat clashes ongoing.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Defense Forces repelled two enemy assaults.
In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, the enemy did not conduct active operations.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 27 enemy attacks. Additionally, the enemy launched six airstrikes, dropping 17 KABs, and carried out 146 artillery shellings, including six from multiple rocket launch systems.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has lost over 800,000 soldiers.
In particular, over the past day, the Russian army lost another 1,970 soldiers. Additionally, yesterday the Defense Forces destroyed 10 tanks, 25 armored fighting vehicles, 45 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment.
