Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 3
As of the evening of January 3, 138 combat engagements occurred at the frontlines. The situation remains most intense in the Pokrovsk direction. Russian forces also increased their attacks in the Kursk region, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, Russian forces launched five missile strikes and 45 airstrikes, employing 10 missiles and 58 guided aerial bombs.
Additionally, the Russians used 847 kamikaze drones and conducted approximately 4,000 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements.
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two enemy attacks near Vovchansk.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted six assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions near Kucherivka, Synkivka, and Zahryzove. Ukrainian defenders repelled two of these attacks, while four others remain ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces launched ten attacks on Ukrainian positions near Nadiia, Makiivka, Hryhorivka, Tverdokhlibove, Yampolivka, and in the direction of Cherneshchyna. Currently, one battle is ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted two offensives near Bilohorivka but failed to succeed.
In the Kramatorsk direction, ten combat engagements were recorded near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and in the direction of Predtechyne and Stupochky. The enemy dropped two guided bombs on Sloviansk.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defensive positions seven times, focusing their main efforts near Diliivka, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka. Currently, three combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted 34 breakthroughs near the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Baranivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Novoolenivka, Ukrainka, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Zvirove, Solone, Kotlyne, and Pokrovsk. Five battles are still ongoing.
Today, Ukrainian forces in this direction neutralized 304 enemy troops, 140 of whom were killed in action. They also destroyed one tank, one armored fighting vehicle, four vehicles, and nine UAV control antennas.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy remained active, launching 11 attacks near Petropavlivka, Sribne, Kurakhove, and Shevchenko. Five battles are ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces conducted 12 offensives near Yantarne and in the direction of Kostiantynopol and Novosilka. All combat engagements in this area have concluded. The enemy dropped seven guided aerial bombs near Zelenyi Hai and targeted Novopil with rocket attacks.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one enemy attack near Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy launched two unsuccessful offensives on Ukrainian positions.
In Russia's Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders repelled 30 Russian attacks, while 11 battles are still ongoing. Additionally, the enemy launched three airstrikes using guided bombs and conducted 313 artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements.
Enemy's losses
According to the General Staff, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost over 793,000 personnel.
In the past 24 hours alone, Russian forces suffered 1,080 personnel losses. Ukrainian forces also destroyed one tank, 14 armored vehicles, three artillery systems, and other enemy equipment.
