Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of January 3

Since the beginning of January 3, there have been 92 combat clashes on the frontlines. Russian forces continue to assault Ukrainian defenders' positions, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces inflict significant losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one attack near Vovchansk.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops launched five assaults near Nadiia, Makiivka, Hryhorivka, and towards Cherneshchyna. Four attacks were repelled, and one is ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attempts to advance near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and towards Predtechyne and Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked four times near Dyliivka, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka. Three assaults failed, while one fight is ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the start of the day, Russian troops made 26 attempts to push Ukrainian forces from positions near Vodiane Druhe, Baranivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zelenе, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Zvirove, Solone, Kotlyne, and Pokrovsk. Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 attacks, with 10 clashes still ongoing.
In the Kurakhove direction, nine attacks occurred near Petropavlivka, Kurakhove, and Shevchenko. Five battles have been completed, and four are ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces unsuccessfully attacked positions near Yantarnе and towards Konstiantynopol and Novosilka five times. The enemy conducted airstrikes near Zelenе Pole and Novopil, using seven guided bombs and unguided rockets.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy continues shelling Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure, attempting one unsuccessful advance towards Novoandriivka. Airstrikes with unguided rockets hit Lobkove, Shcherbaky, and Piatykhatky.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully assaulted the positions of Ukrainian positions once. The situation remains under control.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces repelled 17 attacks, with 16 clashes still ongoing. Additionally, Russian forces launched three airstrikes on their territory, dropping three guided bombs.
Russia's losses in the war
According to the General Staff, since the beginning of the full-scale war against Ukraine, Russia has lost more than 793 thousand personnel.
In particular, over the past day, the Russian army lost another 1,080 soldiers. The Defense Forces also destroyed 1 tank, 14 armored combat vehicles, 3 artillery systems, and other enemy equipment.
