Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 24

Since the beginning of December 24, there have been 179 combat engagements on the frontline. Russian forces are attacking most actively in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian positions four times near Vovchansk and Vysoka Yaruha.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian Defense Forces 19 times in the areas of Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, and Lozova. Eight combat engagements are ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the Russian army carried out 18 attacks on Ukrainian positions near Druzheliubivka, Zelenyi Hai, Novoyehorivka, Makiivka, Terny, Torske, and in the direction of Hryhorivka. Seven engagements are still ongoing. Ukrainian troops are holding the line and inflicting losses on the enemy.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy made one attempt to break through Ukrainian positions near Bilohorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Defense forces repelled five Russian attacks near Chasiv Yar since the start of the day.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army made 11 attempts to advance on Ukrainian positions near Toretsk, Druzhba, and Dachne. Fighting is still underway.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted 45 times to push Ukrainian defenders out of their positions near Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Dachne, Shevchenko, Vovkove, and Novovasylivka. Defense forces repelled 32 of these attacks, and 13 battles are ongoing.
In the Kurakhove direction, the Russian army attacked 25 times near Petropavlivka, Shevchenko, and Kurakhove. Fifteen attempts to advance have already been repelled.
In the Vremivka direction, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 11 enemy assault actions throughout the day in areas of Uspenivka, Yantarnyi, Kostiantynopilskyi, Kostiantynopil, Rozlyv, Rozdolne, Novyi Komar, Novosilka, Velyka Novosilka, and Storozheve. Nine enemy attacks are ongoing. Russian aviation dropped guided bombs on Temyrivka and Zelene Pole.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy attempted one assault on Ukrainian positions, which was unsuccessful.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces repelled 20 attacks by the Russian troops, with 10 engagements still ongoing.
Russian losses in the war
According to the General Staff of Ukraine, Russia's total losses in manpower since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine amount to more than 777,000 personnel.
Over the past 24 hours, from December 23 to 24, the Russian army lost 1,630 soldiers, 10 artillery systems, 44 drones, and other equipment in the war against Ukraine.
