Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 21

On December 20, Ukrainian forces struck three Russian drone control points. In total, over 200 attacks took place on the front lines, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Sixteen strikes on enemy troop concentration areas were carried out over the past 24 hours by aviation, rocket troops, and artillery of the Defense Forces, and three UAV control points were also hit," the report says.
Hottest frontlines
Over the past day, 211 combat engagements took place, most of them on three fronts:

Pokrovsk direction: Ukrainian forces repelled 46 attacks in areas near the settlements of Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zeleny, Novyi Trud, Dachenske, Vovkove, Pishchane, Novovasylivka, Novoelyzavitivka, Novooleksiivka, and Ukrainka. The enemy actively used assault and bombing aviation.

Vremivka direction: Occupiers launched 36 attacks in the areas of Uspenivka, Dalny, Yantarnyi, Rozlyv, Bohatyr, Velyka Novosilka, Makarivka, Novosilka, Novopillia, and Novodarivka.

Kursk direction: 50 combat engagements, nine enemy airstrikes with 11 KABs, and over 400 artillery shellings of Ukrainian positions.
Situation on other fronts
In the Kharkiv direction, one combat engagement took place over the past day near Vovchansk with Russian invaders.
The number of combat engagements in the Kupiansk direction reached 11. The Ukrainian forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Kucherivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Zahryzove, and Lozova.
In the Lyman direction, the Ukrainian forces stopped 16 enemy attacks. The invaders concentrated their efforts in the areas of Yampolivka, Terny, Novoserhiivka, Zelenyi Hay, Ivanivka, Torske, Hryhorivka, and Serebryanske forestry.
Over the past day, in the Kramatorsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled 6 enemy attempts to advance near the settlement of Chasiv Yar.
The enemy attempted to break through the Ukrainian defenses 11 times in the Toretsk direction, near the settlements of Toretsk and Leonidivka.
The Defense Forces continue to hold off the enemy in the Kurakhove direction. The invaders attempted to breach the defensive lines 24 times in the areas of Sonchivka, Stari Terny, Andriivka, Kurakhove, Dakhne, Dalni, Kostyantynopil, and Kostyantynopil.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Ukrainian forces successfully repelled one enemy attempt to advance near Mala Tokmachka.
Over the past day, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the Prydniprovskyi direction. Additionally, the Ukrainian forces repelled 4 attacks by Russian invaders.
In the Siversk and Huliaipole directions, the enemy has not conducted any active operations since the beginning of the day.
The operational situation in the Volyn and Polissia directions remains unchanged. No signs of enemy offensive group formations have been detected.
On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy maintains a military presence and conducts reconnaissance activities.
Russian losses in Ukraine
In total, over the past day, Russian losses amounted to 1,860 soldiers. Additionally, the Ukrainian forces destroyed 10 tanks, 18 armored fighting vehicles, 32 artillery systems, 85 operational-tactical UAVs, 4 cruise missiles, and 98 units of enemy automotive equipment.
