Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 9
Over the past day, December 8, 191 combat engagements were registered. Half of the fighting took place in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Over the past day, missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit one area of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment and two ground control stations for unmanned aerial vehicles,” Ukraine's General Staff writes.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, 5 combat engagements took place in the areas of Vovchansk, Lyptsi, and Vysoka Yaruha.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russia attacked 8 times near Pishchane, Kolisnykivka, Lozova, and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman sector, Russians attacked 28 times near Bohuslavka, Druzheliubivka, Kopanka, Zelenyi Hai, Zarichne, Terny, Yampolivka, Hrekivka, Nadiia and Makiivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, 3 combat engagements were registered in the vicinity of Stupochky, Chasiv Yar, and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk sector, Russians conducted 8 attacks near Toretsk, Dyliivka, Leonidivka and Shcherbynivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, 53 Russian attacks were stopped in the vicinity of Myroliubivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Zhovte, Novotroitske and Chumatske.
In the Kurakhove sector, 40 Russian attacks were repelled. Russia was most actively trying to advance in the areas of Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Maksymilianivka, Dachne, and beyond.
In the Vremivka sector, 19 Russian attacks were stopped in the areas of Novosilka, Novodarivka, Sukhi Yaly, and Blahodatne.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russians attacked once near Nesterianka.
7 Russian attacks were stopped in the Prydniprovskyi sector.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost 754,590 military personnel. Over the past 24 hours, the Ukraine Defense Forces eliminated another 540 Russian troops and 680 were wounded. In particular, they destroyed 18 armored combat vehicles, 3 artillery systems, and more.
