Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 8

Defense forces launched strikes on enemy command posts. Russia lost 1,460 soldiers in battles over the past day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past day, the rocket forces and artillery of the Defense Forces struck one area where personnel were concentrated, three command posts, and another important target of Russian invaders.
During the previous day, 182 combat encounters were recorded on the front line.
Situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attempted twice to advance in the Vovchansk area but failed both times.
In the Kupiansk direction, nine enemy attacks took place over the day. The Defense Forces repelled enemy assaults near Lozova, Masiutivka, Hlushkivka, Kolisnykivka, and Zelenyi Hai.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked 22 times, attempting to advance near Tverdokhlibove, Kopanok, Bohuslavka, Hrekivka, Cherneshchyna, Makiivka, Zarichne, Terny, Yampolivka, Druzheliubivka, and in the Serebryanske forestry.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy made seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, and Bila Hora.
In the Toretsk direction, seven combat encounters took place near the settlements of Toretsk, Diliivka, and Nelipivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, defenders stopped 35 enemy assault and offensive actions in the areas of Promen, Lysivka, Dachne, Pushkino, Zori, Hrodivka, Sukhyi Yar, Myrnohrad, Zhovte, Novyi Trud, and Novotroitske.
In the Kurakhove direction, the Defense Forces repelled 42 enemy attacks near Sotsivka, Zori, Kurakhove, Yelizavetivka, Romanivka, Hannivka, Uspenivka, Rozlyv, Stari Terny, Dachne, and Neskuchne.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy made 30 assaults on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Veselyi Hai, Kostiantynivske, Sukhyi Yali, Novodarivka, Novosilka, Temyrivka, Neskuchne, and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Defense Forces repelled three enemy assaults.
In the Siversk, Orikhiv, and Huliaipole directions, the enemy did not conduct any active operations yesterday.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, no signs of enemy offensive group formations were detected.
An operation continues in the Kursk region, where 17 combat encounters took place over the past day. Enemy artillery carried out 446 attacks on settlements and Ukrainian positions.
As reported by analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian forces advanced in the Kursk region and achieved success near Velyka Novosilka.
