Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of December 5

Over the past 24 hours, there were 168 combat encounters on the front lines. Half of them were recorded in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Yesterday, the missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces struck nine times at three areas of enemy personnel concentration and one enemy command post," writes the General Staff.
Situation in key directions
In the Kharkiv direction, there were seven enemy attacks near the settlements of Vovchansk, Vysoka Yaruha, and Hlyboke.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russian army launched 15 attacks toward Kucherivka, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Pervomayske, Zeleny Hay, and Lozova.
In the Lyman direction, 14 attacks were repelled near Hrekivka, Druzhelyubivka, Makiivka, Terny, and Zarichne.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russians conducted four attacks near Toretsk city.
In the Pokrovsk direction, 41 assault and offensive actions by the enemy were stopped near Myrolyubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachenske, Zhovte, Shevchenko, Pushkine, and Novopustynka.
In the Kurakhove direction, 41 Russian assaults were repelled. The enemy concentrated efforts in the areas of Sontsivka, Berestky, Zori, Novodmytrivka, Kurakhove, Dalne, Dachne, Romanivka, Yelyzavetivka, and Uspenivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the Russians launched 19 assaults near Zelene Pole, Novodarivka, Kostyantynopolske, and Sukhi Yaly.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian troops attacked the positions of the Defense Forces five times.
In the Kursk region of Russia, the enemy carried out 22 assaults on Ukrainian positions.
Russian losses in the war
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost more than 748,000 personnel. Over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces eliminated 1,580 invaders. Additionally, the following were destroyed:
- 13 tanks;
- 22 armored personnel vehicles;
- 21 artillery systems and more.
