Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 23
Since the beginning of the day on November 23, 224 combat engagements have occurred at the frontline in Ukraine. The enemy attacks intensively in the Pokrovsk direction, where the situation is difficult but controlled, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff provided an update on the operational situation as of 10:00 PM on November 23 (Kyiv time).
Enemy shelling
Since the start of November 23, Russian forces have launched 37 airstrikes using 48 guided bombs and more than 270 kamikaze drones.
Additionally, they carried out over 2,000 artillery attacks on Ukrainian defensive positions and civilian settlements with various types of weaponry.
Frontline situation
The General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces continue to “bravely defend the country.”
In the Kharkiv direction, 13 combat engagements occurred. Ukrainian forces repelled 11 enemy attacks near Vovchansk and Tykhe, with two more still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted 12 times to push Ukrainian forces from positions near Hlushkivka, Synkivka, Zahryzove, Novoplatonivka, Kindrashivka, Pishchane, and Zelenyi Hai.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched 17 attacks, attempting to advance toward Druzheliubivka, Tverdokhlibove, Novoyehorivka, Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Cherneshchyna, Kopanky, Yampolivka, and Terny. Additionally, Russian forces carried out airstrikes with unguided missiles on Tverdokhlibove.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy assault near Bilohorivka.
"In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy conducted three assaults on our positions while carrying out airstrikes with unguided rockets on the town of Chasiv Yar. The enemy's activity was observed in the areas of Stupochky and Chasiv Yar, with all attempts to improve their position being stopped by Ukrainian forces," the General Staff reported.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy launched airstrikes on Toretsk, Nelipivka, Katerynivka, and Ivanopillia, making two attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense near Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces intensified their attacks — 55 offensive actions were carried out throughout the day.
"The highest activity of Russian forces remains in the areas of Promin, Lysivka, Krutyi Yar, Myrnohrad, Hryhorivka, Myroliubivka, Dachenske, Zhovte, Pushkyne, Petrivka, and Pustynka," the General Staff reported.
In this direction, Ukrainian forces have already repelled 49 of the enemy's attacks, and another six battles are ongoing.
"The situation is difficult, but it remains controlled by the Defense Forces. Our troops are making every effort to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory," the General Staff noted.
The General Staff also reported that the enemy's losses in the Pokrovsk direction on this day amounted to 167 killed and wounded.
"Two armored personnel carriers, one infantry fighting vehicle, and two vehicles were destroyed. Additionally, three enemy infantry fighting vehicles were damaged," the report stated.
In the Kurakhove direction, 47 combat engagements occurred. Russian forces continue to maintain high activity, trying to advance in the areas of Berestky, Dalne, Romanivka, Sontsivka, Zoria, Novodmytrivka, Kurakhove, Katerynivka, and Antonivka, the General Staff reported.
The enemy also carried out airstrikes with guided aerial bombs on Dachne, Romanivka, and Ulakly.
"In this direction, the enemy lost 64 killed and wounded. Our troops destroyed one tank, one motorcycle, and six bunkers and significantly damaged two enemy infantry fighting vehicles," the General Staff reported.
In the Vremivka direction, 25 combat clashes took place — all enemy assaults were stopped near Velyka Novosilka, Novodarivka, Trudove, Sukhi Yaly, Rozdolne, Kostiantynopolske, and Rivnopillya.
In the Huliaipole directions, Russian forces did not conduct active operations.
"The settlements of Temyrivka and Zelene Pole in the Orikhiv direction were bombed with six guided aerial bombs," the General Staff reported.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks on Ukrainian positions.
The General Staff also added that no significant changes occurred in other directions.
Earlier, the military command reported on November 23 that Russian forces were attacking on all fronts in eastern and southern Ukraine.
Additionally, the ATESH partisan movement reported after a survey of a new Russian base in the Donetsk region that the enemy had brought in tank crews from Buryatia, who were preparing for an offensive.
