Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of November 2
As of 10:00 p.m. on November 2, there have been 167 combat engagements on the front lines since the start of the day, with nearly one-third occurring in the Kurakhove direction, according to the evening briefing from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Today, Russian forces launched one missile strike and 56 airstrikes across Ukraine, deploying a guided missile and 81 aerial bombs. Additionally, Russia used 437 kamikaze drones and carried out over 3,000 artillery attacks on Ukrainian troop positions and civilian areas.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled eight enemy attacks in the areas of Vovchansk and Hatyshche - seven were successfully pushed back. At the same time, one is ongoing, with the situation under control.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy launched 13 assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions in the areas of Pishchane, Zahrizove, Petropavlivka, Zelenyi Hai, Kruhliakivka, Kolisnykivka, and Lozova. Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks, with six more currently underway.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 16 times near Hrekivka, Terni, Yampilivka, Torske, and the Serebryansky Forestry over the day. Two battles are ongoing. The enemy also intensified its use of aviation, launching 24 airstrikes with unguided missiles.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy conducted seven offensive operations in the areas of Ivano-Darivka and Vyimka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled one recorded combat engagement near Predtechyne.
In the Toretsk direction, after dropping three guided bombs, Russian forces launched eight attacks on defensive positions, focusing their main assault efforts near Toretsk and Shcherbynivka. One battle is still ongoing.
Since the start of the day in the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses 11 times near the settlements of Mykolaivka, Promin, Krutyi Yar, Selydove, and Vyshneve. One engagement is still underway near Krutyi Yar.
"The enemy is incurring heavy losses - 229 Russian troops were neutralized today in this sector, with 87 of them confirmed as irrecoverable. Additionally, two enemy tanks and two BMPs were destroyed," the General Staff reported.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy remains active, launching 51 attacks on Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Illinka, Novoselydivka, Novodmytrivka, Hostre, Maksymilianivka, Antonivka, Kostiantynivka, and Katerynivka. Nine battles are still ongoing.
"According to updated information, 180 Russian troops have been neutralized, with 66 confirmed as irrecoverable. Additionally, one vehicle was destroyed, and two armored fighting vehicles and one artillery system were damaged," the report states.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces conducted 14 offensive actions near Trudove and Maksymivka, with four engagements still underway. The enemy carried out an airstrike on the areas of Novodarivka, Bohoyavlenka, Maksymivka, and Velyka Novosilka, dropping six guided bombs and using 30 rockets.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled four enemy attacks near Novoandriivka, Robotyne, and Mala Tokmachka. One attempt by the enemy to advance towards Ukrainian positions near Novoandriivka is still ongoing.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled three attacks near Kozachi Laheri, Dnipriany, and Kozatskyi Island, with no success for the enemy.
In other directions, the situation remains largely unchanged.
"Today, we recognize the warriors of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade, the 128th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, the 38th Separate Marine Brigade, the 79th Separate Tavrian Air Assault Brigade of Mykolaiv, and the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush," the General Staff stated.
Russian forces suffered 1,270 personnel losses in Ukraine from November 1 to 2. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the total has reached 697,680 Russian military personnel.
