Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 23
Over the last day, October 22, 166 combat engagements occurred in the frontline. More than half of the fighting occurred in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Yesterday, the aviation, missile troops, and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted four strikes on the areas of concentration of Russian personnel and weapons, as well as hit 3 Russian drone control centers, five artillery systems, and two air defense systems,” the General Staff writes.
Sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, 5 combat engagements took place in the areas of Vovchansk and Starytsia.
In the Kupiansk sector, 13 Russian assaults were repelled near Holubivka, Pishchane, Petropavlivka, Kolisnykivka, and Lozova.
In the Lyman sector, Russians attacked 14 times near Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Terny, and Torske.
In the Kramatorsk sector, a Russian attempt to advance towards Bondarne was repelled.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Russia conducted 56 attacks. The highest concentration of Russian attacks was near Selydove.
In the Kurakhove sector, 47 Russian attacks were repelled near Hirnyk, Novodmytrivka, Hostre, Katerynivka, and Antonivka.
In the Vremivka sector, Russians attacked 10 times in the direction of Bohoyavlenka and Velyka Novosilka.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russian occupants continue to try to drive Ukrainian troops from their positions. One firefight took place in the vicinity of Robotyne.
In the Prydniprovskyi sector, 4 Russian attacks failed during the storming of defensive lines in the island zone of the Dnipro Delta.
Russia's losses in the war
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost more than 683,000 personnel. Over the past 24 hours alone, the Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated another 1,460 Russian occupants and destroyed 9 tanks, 30 armored combat vehicles, and 51 artillery systems.
