Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 20

As of 16:00 on October 20, 95 combat engagements took place in the frontline since the beginning of the day. The Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors are the hottest today, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
The General Staff noted that the enemy continues to use artillery on the territory of Chernihiv and Sumy regions. Today, the settlements of Pavlivka, Khodyne, Kniazhychi, Basivka, Zhuravka, Romashkove, Vodolahy, Moshchenka, Velyka Pysarivka, Hremiach, and Zhovid came under enemy fire. Moreover, enemy aircraft attacked the areas of Zhovid and Novenke.
In addition, according to the available information, the enemy conducted 7 air strikes on the territory of the Kursk region of Russia, using 17 guided bombs.
Situation at the frontlines
Three combat engagements took place in the Kharkiv direction today. Ukrainian troops repelled two Russian attacks near Vovchansk. Another combat engagement is still ongoing.
Our troops repelled two assault attacks near Holubivka and Novoosynove in the Kupiansk direction. Three more battles are taking place near Kolisnykivka and Lozova.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy is attacking in the areas of Hrekivka, Novomykhailivka, Yampolivka, Novosadove, and Zarichne. In total, there have been 15 combat engagements in this sector since the beginning of the day, two of which are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy tried to advance once to the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the vicinity of Stupochky, the attack was repelled.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, unsuccessfully attacked the positions of our troops in the Toretsk area twice. The enemy also dropped a bomb near Leonidivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, nine firefights continue in the areas of Selydove, Promin, Sukhyi Yar, and Mykhailivka. Ukrainian troops have repelled 15 enemy attacks in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Novotroitske, Promin, Selydove, and Mykhailivka.
The situation is the hottest in the Kurakhove direction, where 13 firefights are taking place in the vicinity of Hirnyk, Novodmytrivka, Maksymilianivka, Antonivka, Kurakhove, and Vodiane. Thirteen more enemy attacks have already been repelled by our defenders.
In the Vremivka direction, two enemy assaults near Bohoyavlenka were stopped, and another attack is ongoing. The enemy launched an air strike with unguided missiles at Novodarivka.
In the Orikhiv direction, two enemy attacks were repelled by our defenders near Robotyne, and another is ongoing.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, our troops repelled three attacks by Russian invaders on Ukrainian troops' positions.
Over the last day, from October 19 to October 20, Russian losses in manpower amounted to 1340 soldiers. The Ukrainian Defense Forces also discovered 57 unmanned aerial vehicles and 41 units of enemy vehicles.
