Over the last day, 163 combat engagements were registered in various sectors of the frontline. There were 52 clashes in the Kurakhove sector, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

Russia launched 2 missile attacks and carried out 64 air strikes, dropping 98 guided aerial bombs, and fired 4786 times, including 137 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

The most intense fighting took place in the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Vremivka, and Orikhiv directions.

Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully repelled numerous Russian attacks. In particular, 18 attacks took place in the Kupiansk sector, 52 in the Kurakhove sector, and 15 in the Pokrovsk sector.

Ukrainian aviation and missile forces conducted 14 attacks on areas where Russian manpower and equipment were concentrated, as well as on the Russian ground control station for unmanned aerial vehicles.

The operational situation in the Prydniprovskyi sector remains stable, and no signs of Russian offensive groups have been detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.

The operation in the Kursk region continues, 21 Russian air strikes were recorded in the region, including 32 guided bombs.

Russian losses

Over the last day, from October 16 to 17, Russia lost more than 1,400 soldiers and 17 tanks. The total loss of armored combat vehicles since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine has exceeded 18,000 units.

Last night, the Russians once again attacked Ukraine with Shaheds drones. In many regions of the country, the alarm was raised and Ukrainian Air Defense Forces were operating.
