Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 7
As of October 7, 120 combat engagements had occurred along the frontlines. Ukrainian defense forces continue to repel enemy attempts to advance deeper into Ukraine fiercely, concentrated in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Toretsk directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Today, Russian forces launched three missile strikes using five missiles across Ukraine, 58 airstrikes, and dropped 91 guided bombs.
Additionally, Russian forces employed 689 kamikaze drones for strikes and conducted over 3,500 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas using various types of weapons.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces assaulted Ukrainian positions near Starytsia and Vovchansk five times. Fighting continues near Vovchansk, though the situation remains under control.
Ukrainian forces eliminated and wounded 79 Russian forces and destroyed two armored combat vehicles, five artillery systems, 30 drones, and three vehicles. Additionally, they damaged three artillery systems, four vehicles, and one piece of special enemy equipment.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 25 times. In the areas of Synkivka, Novoselivka, Hlushkivka, Lozova, and Kruhliakivka, Ukrainian defense units repelled 15 assaults. The situation remains tense, with ten engagements still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defenders 17 times near Makiivka, Hrekivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Torske, and the Serebryansky forest. Five engagements are still in progress.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two attempts by Russian forces to advance near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky. All attacks were thwarted, and the enemy failed to make any gains.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 11 times near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Nelipivka, supported by aviation. Battles are still ongoing in two other locations.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 20 attacks daily, focusing their efforts on the Lysivka and Selydove areas. Ukrainian defense forces repelled 17 attacks, with three engagements still underway.
Russian forces suffered significant losses in this direction, with over 257 soldiers killed or wounded, five artillery systems, an armored combat vehicle, and eight vehicles destroyed. Ukrainian forces also damaged a tank, three artillery systems, six armored combat vehicles, and two enemy vehicles.
In the Kurakhove direction, the situation remains tense. Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 assaults as Russian forces attempted to advance near Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, Hirnyk, Novoselydivka, Hostre, Heorhiivka, and Katerynivka. Four engagements are still ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, three Russian assaults on the frontline of Ukrainian defense are in progress in the Bohoyavlenka area. Ukrainian forces are firmly holding their positions.
In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces repelled two enemy assaults near Robotyne.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, seven enemy assaults failed to yield any success. No positions were lost.
"The Ukrainian Defense Forces' operation in Russia’s Kursk region is ongoing. No significant changes have occurred in other directions," the General Staff reported.
Frontline situation and Russian losses
According to preliminary data from the General Staff, today's hottest areas are in the Lyman, Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, and Kurakhove directions.
Over the past day, Russian forces lost 1,160 soldiers. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 14 tanks, 31 armored vehicles, 64 artillery systems, seven multiple rocket launchers, and other enemy equipment.
