Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of October 5

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 28 attacks against Ukrainian defenders over the day, with one battle still ongoing as of 22:00. In the Kurakhove direction, there were 26 attacks, and three engagements continue, reports the General Staff.
Since the beginning of the day, there have been 147 combat engagements.
In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attacked our defensive lines six times near the settlements of Lyptsi, Vovchansk, and Starytsia. All enemy assaults were repelled.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy concentrated its efforts around the settlement of Lozova, launching 12 attacks, with seven ongoing battles. Additionally, Russian forces conducted 10 assaults near Novoosynove, Kucherivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pishchane, Hlushkivka, and Kruhliakivka, where Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled all attacks.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions nine times near Novosadove, Makiivka, Hrekivka, and Torske throughout the day. Currently, two battles are still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy's most intense assaults occurred near Bilohorivka, where nine attacks were repelled, and one ongoing battle. Russian forces also attacked near the settlements of Novosadove and Verkhniokamianske, with one battle still taking place near Verkhniokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk direction, five engagements are currently underway near the settlements of Stupochky, Kalynivka, Hryhorivka, and Chasiv Yar. Ukrainian defenders have successfully repelled five enemy attacks.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched 13 attacks on Ukrainian defense positions near Dachne and Toretsk. Our soldiers have halted five enemy assaults, while eight are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian troops have attempted to breach our defenses 28 times near the settlements of Novotoretske, Selydove, Krutyi Yar, Lysivka, and Promin. One engagement is still ongoing.
The enemy continues to suffer significant losses - today on this front, 177 Russian soldiers were neutralized, 72 of them permanently. Additionally, two armored fighting vehicles and five trucks were destroyed, while an infantry fighting vehicle (BMP), an armored personnel carrier (BTR), and two enemy guns were damaged.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy remains active, launching 26 attacks on our positions near the settlements of Tsukuryne, Novoselydivka, Izmaylivka, Hostre, Maksymilyanivka, Katerynivka, Kostiantynivka, and Antonivka. According to updated information, three battles are still ongoing.
In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army attempted four offensives near Bohoyavlenka but were unsuccessful in all engagements.
In the Orikhiv direction, there was one unsuccessful attempt by the enemy to advance towards our positions near Novodanylivka.
In other directions, the situation has not seen significant changes.
As previously reported, British intelligence suggests that after the capture of the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region, Russian forces are likely to continue their offensive. The village of Bohoyavlenka and the large settlement of Velyka Novosilka may be under threat.
