There were 125 combat engagements registered in the frontline during the day on September 21 and until the evening. More than half of them took place in the Pokrovsk, Lyman, and Kurakhove directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military command provided an update on the operational situation as of 10:00 p.m. (Kyiv time) on September 21.

Enemy shelling

Russian forces carried out two missile strikes, and 63 airstrikes, and dropped 86 guided bombs on Ukrainian territory throughout Saturday.

Additionally, over 650 kamikaze drones were used, and nearly 3,400 strikes were conducted on Ukrainian defense positions and populated areas.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops launched two unsuccessful assaults on Ukrainian positions near Vovchansk. Simultaneously, Russian army aviation attacked Kozacha Lopan with unguided rockets.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy advanced near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kruhliakivka, Kotliarivka, Stelmakhivka, and Lozova. Ukrainian troops repelled five attacks, with two battles still ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defense positions 23 times near Druzheliubivka, Cherneshchyna, Hrekivka, Nevske, Makiivka, Bilohorivka, and Novosadove. Four clashes remain active.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled one assault by Russian troops near Vyimka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, with air support, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions near Kalynivka, Maiske, Andriivka, and Bila Hora. Seven Russian assaults were repelled, with two engagements still underway.

In the Toretsk direction, 11 battles occurred. Russian forces, backed by airpower, attacked Ukrainian units near Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, and Nelipivka. Seven enemy assaults were repelled, while four engagements are still ongoing.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy launched 25 attacks near Novotoretsk, Selydove, Novohrodivka, Krasnyi Yar, Vozdvyzhenka, Mykhailivka, and Marynivka. Ukrainian forces repelled 24 assaults, with one battle still ongoing near Selydove.

"Preliminary reports indicate that 460 Russian troops were neutralized in this direction today, 188 of them permanently. Two armored vehicles and 11 trucks were also destroyed, while one tank, one armored fighting vehicle, seven artillery systems, and nine trucks were damaged," the General Staff reported.

In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy made 20 attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses near Zhelanne Druhe, Tsukuryne, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka, and Hirnyk. Thirty battles have concluded, with seven ongoing.

According to the General Staff, enemy losses in this direction amounted to 100 personnel, either killed or wounded.

"Four armored fighting vehicles were destroyed," the military statement added.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions five times near Vuhledar, Katerynivka, and Vodiane, with one assault still ongoing.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops launched four assaults on Ukrainian defense positions near Robotyne, Novoandriivka, and Novodanylivka. One battle is still ongoing.

The General Staff added that in other directions, there were no significant changes.

The military command also confirmed an ongoing operation in Russia's Kursk region, where Russian aviation continues to bomb its villages and towns using guided bombs.

In total, Russian losses over the past day amounted to 1,440 soldiers. Ukrainian forces also destroyed dozens of tanks, drones, and Russian artillery systems.
