Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 17

Since the beginning of the day on September 17, there have been 139 combat clashes on the front, 34 of which are ongoing. Russian forces continue to assault the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Enemy shelling
Today, Russians launched three missile strikes across Ukraine, using six missiles, 59 airstrikes, and dropping 84 guided bombs. Additionally, Russian troops employed 494 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,338 shellings on our troops and settlements using various types of weaponry.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops attempted to assault Ukrainian units' positions near Vovchansk once. According to current information, Ukrainian defenders in this direction killed and wounded 58 Russian troops, and destroyed two artillery systems, 44 UAVs, five vehicles, and one piece of specialized equipment. They also damaged five artillery systems, one vehicle, and two pieces of specialized equipment.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked our defenders' positions 13 times near Synkivka, Novoosynove, Kruhliakivka, Andriivka, Kolisnykivka, Petropavlivka, and Lozova. The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 12 assaults. The situation remains tense, with one clash still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian defenders 12 times during the day near Cherneshchyna, Druzhelyubivka, Makiivka, Torske, and Nevske. The enemy also used unguided rockets to strike Tverdokhlibove.
In the Siversk direction, Russians attempted two assaults to dislodge our defenders from positions near Verkhniokamianske and Vyimka. Both attacks were repelled, and the enemy failed.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops fended off six attempts by Russian troops to advance near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Klishchiivka, and Bila Hora. Eight attacks were repelled, and one clash continues.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops, with air support, attacked our positions near Shcherbynivka, Toretsk, and Nelipivka 14 times. One clash is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russians are concentrating their main efforts. Throughout the day, Russian troops attacked 34 times near Hrodivka, Novotoretske, Orlivka, Mykolaivka, Ukrainsk, Oleksandropil, Vozdvyzhenka, Marynivka, and Zelene Pole. Ukrainian defenders repelled 30 attacks, and four clashes are still ongoing. Today, Russian troops lost over 220 troops killed or wounded in this direction. Four vehicles and one motorcycle were destroyed, while our defenders significantly damaged a tank and five enemy vehicles.
In the Kurakhove direction, our defenders repelled 43 enemy attacks on our positions. Russians attempted to advance near Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Pershe, Hirnyk, Katerynivka, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka. Eleven clashes are ongoing. The situation is under control.
In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops attacked the front lines in the direction of Vuhledar four times today. Ukrainian forces repelled three attacks, with one clash still ongoing.
In the Huliaipole direction, the settlement of Verbove was hit by an airstrike using unguided bombs.
In the Orikhiv direction, five clashes occurred near Novodanylivka and Shcherbaky, with one ongoing clash.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, four enemy assaults were unsuccessful. No positions were lost.
As a reminder, on the evening of September 17, the Russians once again launched Shahed-type attack drones towards Ukraine. Air raid alerts were issued in several northern and eastern regions.
Throughout the day, Russian troops have intensified their activity in the Kurakhove direction in the Donetsk region.
Recently, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed a large ammunition depot of Russians near the occupied city of Mariupol.
