In Ukraine, there were 166 combat clashes on the front line over the past day and as of the evening. The highest intensity of enemy attacks remains in the Pokrovsk direction, while the area around Novohrodivka is experiencing the hottest situation, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The military command provided an update on the operational situation as of 10:00 p.m. on September 1 (according to the Kyiv time zone).

Russian shelling

Russian forces launched a single missile strike on Ukrainian territory, employing 14 missiles, and 55 airstrikes with 63 guided aerial bombs.

Additionally, the enemy used 427 kamikaze drones for further strikes.

The enemy also carried out around 2,800 shellings targeting Ukrainian Defense Forces positions and settlements using various types of weaponry.

Situation at the frontlines

The General Staff reported that Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to resolutely repel attempts by Russian forces to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory, delivering effective fire damage to the enemy, exhausting them along the entire front line.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops conducted five attacks near Vovchansk and Lyptsi. Ukrainian Armed Forces units repelled three enemy assaults, while two clashes are still ongoing.

According to the General Staff, preliminary reports indicate that the enemy suffered 70 casualties, either killed or wounded, since the beginning of the day in this sector. Additionally, two tanks, two armored fighting vehicles (AFVs), 35 UAVs, and six vehicles were destroyed, while three AFVs and six vehicles were damaged.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces positions 14 times near Synkivka and Hlushkivka. Two battles are still underway.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attempted 17 advances near Makiivka, Hrekivka, Novosadove, Nevske, and Torske. Ukrainian troops repelled 16 attacks, with one battle still ongoing near Makiivka.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy conducted nine assault actions near Verkhniokamianske and Rozdolivka. Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks, while three battles are ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian troops conducted five assault actions near Andriivka, Klishchiivka, Mayske, and Markove. The General Staff stated that the situation remains under the control of Ukrainian Armed Forces units.

In the Toretsk direction, the situation remains tense. Russian troops attacked 16 times near Toretsk and Nelipivka, with ongoing fighting.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the intensity of combat remains high. The number of clashes has increased to 62. The General Staff reported that the enemy continues to pressure Ukrainian defense lines near Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Kalynove, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Karlivka, Marynivka, and Mykhailivka.

Ukrainian forces repelled 58 enemy attacks, with four more clashes still underway.

"The hottest spot today is in the area around Novohrodivka, where 27 combat clashes have occurred," the evening report stated.

Ukrainian Armed Forces also reported that preliminary enemy losses in this sector amounted to 212 killed and wounded. Additionally, three AFVs and one vehicle were destroyed, while five artillery systems and two vehicles were damaged.

In the Kurakhove direction, 23 combat clashes were reported. Russian troops attempted to advance near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, and Heorhiivka. Twenty-one attacks were repelled, and two battles are still ongoing.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy attacked Ukrainian defense lines 13 times near Vodiane, Kostiantynivka, and Makarivka. The Defense Forces halted 10 enemy attacks, with three battles still ongoing.

Today, there were no active offensive actions by the enemy in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv direction.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, two attempts by the enemy to seize Ukrainian positions failed.

Earlier, British intelligence reported that Russian forces had accelerated their advance toward Pokrovsk over the past week. However, the UK Ministry of Defense noted that Russian troops might soon slow down.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian military leadership may have redeployed several units from the Pokrovsk direction to the Kursk region amid Ukrainian operations.
