As of 10:00 PM (according to the Kyiv time zone) on August 31, 183 combat engagements have been recorded along the frontlines over the past 24 hours. The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to bravely defend the country, according to the evening report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

Today, Russian troops launched four missile strikes with nine rockets, 59 aerial assaults using 77 guided bombs, 381 drone strikes, and nearly 2,400 shellings of Ukrainian military positions and civilian areas with various types of weaponry.

Situation at the frontlines

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops conducted two attacks near Vovchansk and Lyptsi. One clash is ongoing.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 25 attacks. The enemy showed the greatest activity around Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, and in the direction of Lozova, where clashes are still ongoing.

The enemy launched seventeen attacks in the Lyman direction, attempting to advance towards eight different settlements and in the Serebryanskyi forest, concentrating efforts near Hrekivka, Nevske, and Tverdokhlibove.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight enemy assaults in the areas of Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, Zvanivka, Bilohorivka, and Vyimka. Fighting continues in four locations.

In the Kramatorsk direction, 19 combat clashes occurred. The enemy was most active in the Kalynivka area, where over half of the attacks took place. Fighting continues.

The enemy attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses in the Toretsk direction 14 times. Throughout the day, they attacked the areas of Kurdiumivka, Toretsk, Nelipivka, and New York, with 13 attacks repelled by Ukrainian defenders.

In the Pokrovsk direction, from the start of the day, Ukrainian forces repelled 30 offensive and assault actions by the enemy in the areas of Sukha Balka, Vozdvyzhenka, Zelene Pole, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Karlivka, Selydove, and Mykhailivka, with four engagements still ongoing. Ukrainian troops are taking measures to hold their positions and provide a strong counterattack.

"Preliminary data indicates that today the enemy lost 168 soldiers killed and 216 wounded. Additionally, Ukrainian servicemen destroyed two T-72 tanks, three BMPs, and nine vehicles. Furthermore, two tanks and 17 enemy vehicles were significantly damaged," the report states.

In the Kurakhove direction, there have been 28 combat clashes to date. Russian troops remain active, attempting to advance in the areas of Kostiantynivka and Heorhiivka, with five and 13 attacks respectively. There were also attempts to advance towards Ukrainka, Lisivka, and Halytsynivka. Russian troops are suffering losses.

In the Vremivka direction, the enemy attacked in the direction of Vuhledar, Vodiane, Makarivka, and Vremivka. The situation is under control.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian forces halted four enemy attacks near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, there have been no significant changes, with no loss of positions or territory. Ukrainian soldiers repelled three assaults by Russian troops.

Additionally, the General Staff acknowledged the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces for their steadfast defense and significant impact on enemy losses.

It is noted that in the report as of 4:00 PM (according to the Kyiv time zone), the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine highlighted the greatest enemy activity in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove directions.
