As of 16:00 on August 31, 109 combat engagements were registered in the frontline over the last day. The enemy is most active in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

The General Staff noted that today Sumy and Chernihiv regions are suffering from artillery shelling from the territory of Russia. In particular, 15 districts of different settlements came under enemy fire. Among them are Khrinivka, Ulanove, Velyka Pysarivka, Slavgorod and Stepok. Sopych was shelled twice and Porozok three times. Russians used aerial bombs, in particular, at Hlukhiv, Manukhivka, Zhuravka and Obody.

Situation at the frontlines

In the Kharkiv direction, the enemy is currently attacking near Vovchansk. Lyptsi and Mali Prokhody came under enemy bombardment.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy started storming the positions of Ukrainian troops 12 times near Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, and towards Lozova. Half of these engagements are still ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, the invading army launched six attacks on Ukrainian positions near Tverdokhlibove, Nevske, Novosadove, Dibrova, and in Serebryanskyi forest. Three clashes ended without success for the enemy, and three are ongoing. The enemy fired unguided missiles from Ka-52 helicopters at Serhiivka.

The enemy is trying to find a weakness in the Ukrainian defense in the Siversk direction. He conducted seven attacks near Verkhnekamianske, Vyimka, Zvanivka, and Spirne. He received a fierce rebuff. Fighting near Vyimka and Verkhnekamianske is still ongoing.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the invaders launched 12 assaults near Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Andriivka, and Klishchiivka. Three of them have not yet been completed. The enemy is suffering losses. He is concentrating his efforts in the areas of Kalynivka and Andriivka.

The number of enemy attacks in the Toretsk direction increased to nine. Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped eight of them. The battle is still ongoing in the vicinity of Nelipivka, where the enemy is attacking most actively.

In the Pokrovsk direction, there was the largest number of combat engagements. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian troops have already made 23 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the vicinity of seven different settlements. The largest number of firefights, almost half, took place near Novohrodivka. Selidove and Pokrovsk were hit with glide bombs.

Moreover, 21 hostile attacks were registered in the direction of Ukrayinsk, Lisivka, Halytsynivka, Heorhiivka, and Kostiantynivka in the Kurakhove direction. The enemy made the main efforts in the areas of Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka, conducting eleven and five attacks respectively.

In the Vremivka direction, two firefights continue near Vuhledar and Vremivka. The enemy attacked Makarivka three more times and was fiercely repulsed.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attacked three times, near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne. Twenty unguided aerial missiles were fired at Rivnopil from helicopter gunships.

One enemy attack was successfully repelled in the Prydniprovskyi direction.

The situation in the other sectors remained unchanged.

Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine from August 30 to August 31 amounted to 1360 soldiers. The total number of losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion is approximately 614,950 soldiers. In addition, over the past day, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 8 tanks, 14 armored personnel carriers, and 42 enemy artillery systems.
