On August 29, there were 156 combat engagements on the front lines. The Russian army continues its active assaults in four directions within the Donetsk region, according to the evening update from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Enemy shelling

Throughout the day, the enemy launched three missile strikes using three missiles, carried out 43 airstrikes, dropped 60 guided bombs, and conducted over 500 kamikaze drone attacks. Additionally, they shelled our troops' positions and civilian settlements around three thousand times using various types of weaponry.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, there were four combat engagements with Russian forces. Two attacks were repelled near Lyptsi and Vovchansk, while two other clashes are ongoing. The situation remains under control.

Estimated enemy losses so far include 56 Russian soldiers killed or wounded, the destruction of an armored fighting vehicle, ten automotive units, one special equipment unit, and 34 UAVs. Additionally, two tanks, an armored fighting vehicle, and two artillery systems have been damaged.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted 24 times to dislodge our units from their positions near Synkivka, Myasozharivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Kolisnykivka, and Lozova. Currently, five enemy attacks are ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defenders 20 times today, attempting to advance toward the settlements of Tverdokhlibove, Cherneshchyna, Druzheliubivka, Nevske, Torske, and in the Serebrianske Forestry. Fighting is currently ongoing near Nevske.

In the Siversk direction, our defenders repelled seven enemy assault actions throughout the day near Verkhniokamianske and Vyiimka. Three clashes are ongoing, with the enemy attempting to break through towards Zvanivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, there were eight combat engagements. The Russian forces were active near Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Chasiv Yar, but their attempts to advance on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces were repelled by our defenders.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army tried 13 times to penetrate our defenses. Since the beginning of the day, they have launched assaults near Toretsk, Zalizne, Nelipivka, and Sukha Balka. Fighting is still ongoing near Toretsk and Dachne.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy continues to intensively attack Ukrainian defenders. Throughout the day, the aggressor launched 40 assault and offensive actions. The highest activity of Russian forces remains concentrated near Vozdvyzhenka, Zelenyi Hai, Myroliubivka, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Karlivka, Marynivka, and Mykhailivka. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 32 attacks in this direction, while eight more clashes are ongoing. The situation is challenging, but our troops are doing everything possible to prevent the enemy from advancing deeper into Ukrainian territory.

According to the latest information, today's Russian losses in this direction amount to 225 soldiers killed and wounded. Additionally, two artillery systems, a multiple rocket launcher system, five vehicles, and one piece of special equipment were destroyed. One vehicle and one enemy gun were also damaged.

In the Kurakhove direction, there have been 30 combat engagements so far today. The invaders remain highly active, attempting to advance near the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, and Heorhiivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces have repelled 26 enemy attacks, with four more ongoing.

In the Vremivka direction, 14 clashes occurred. Fighting continues near Vuhledar, Kostiantynivka, and Vodiane. The situation is under the control of Ukraine's Defense Forces.

In the Orikhiv direction, our defenders repelled three enemy attacks near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne throughout the day.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, our troops delivered a fierce response to the Russian forces in one engagement.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, emphasized the need to strengthen the defenders' positions in the Pokrovsk direction due to the large-scale assaults by Russian forces.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that during the repelling of a massive Russian attack on August 26, the Ukrainian Air Force lost an F-16 fighter jet. The reasons for the loss are currently unknown, and an investigation is underway.

The incident resulted in the death of pilot Oleksii Mes, known by the call sign Moonfish.
