Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 29

Over the last day, 195 combat engagements between Ukrainian defenders and Russian invaders were registered. Almost a third of them took place in the Pokrovske sector, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 66 Russian attacks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian massive shelling
According to updated information, yesterday Russia launched three missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas, using five missiles. In addition, 79 air strikes were carried out, during which 96 guided aerial bombs were dropped. In total, Russia conducted over 4,000 attacks, including 139 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 1,314 kamikaze drones.
Geography of Russian attacks
Russia carried out air strikes in the areas of Pustohorod, Bilopillia, Horile, Basivka, Kozacha Lopan, Alisivka, Kudiivka, Horiana, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Kupiansk, Kopanky, Hryhorivka, Toretsk, Druzhba, Oleksandropil, Myrnohrad, Tarasivka, Vuhledar, Yehorivka, Velyka Novosilka, Novoukrainka, Stepove, Kozatske and Odradokamyanka.
Ukrainian forces' counterattacks
Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to respond actively. Over the last day, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery conducted 11 strikes on areas where Russian personnel and weapons were concentrated, one strike on multiple launch rocket systems at a firing position, one on an air defense system, one on a pontoon crossing and two on other important Russian targets.
Combat sectors
In the Kharkiv sector, 2 combat clashes took place in the vicinity of Lyptsi and Vovchansk. In the Kupiansk sector, 23 firefights took place, during which Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attacks in the areas of Stelmakhivka, Kruhliakivka, Synkivka, and Kolisnykivka.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops stopped 14 Russian attacks in the areas of Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Novosadove, Makiivka, Nevske, and Novoyehorivka.
In the Siversk sector, 5 Russian attacks were repelled near Bilohorivka, Spirne, and Verkhniokamianske.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian defenders thwarted 11 Russian breakthrough attempts in the areas of Hryhorivka, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, Klishchiivka and Andriivka in the Donetsk region.
In the Toretsk sector, Russia attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses 21 times, operating in the areas of Pivnichne, Druzhba, Toretsk, New York, and, most actively, near Nelipivka. Russia struck Toretsk 7 times with thirteen guided aerial bombs.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold back the Russian troops, who tried to break through the defenses 30 times in the areas of Ukrainka, Karlivka, Heorhiivka, Halytsynivka, and Kostiantynivka.
In the Vremivka sector, Russia conducted 6 attempts to seize Ukrainian positions near Kostiantynivka, Vodiane, and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region and attacked from the direction of Mykilske.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russia conducted 2 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions in the areas of Robotyne and Novodanylivka, but both attacks were repelled.
Russian troops did not conduct any offensive actions in the Prydniprovskyi and Huliaipole sectors yesterday.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, the operational situation remains unchanged, with no signs of Russian troops forming offensive groups.
Russia continues to maintain a military presence and conduct reconnaissance operations on the border with the Chernihiv region.
Russian losses
Over the past 24 hours, Russia lost another 1,200 troops. In total, Russian losses have already exceeded 612,000 personnel.
