Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 29: Over 612,000 troops eliminated total
Russian losses in the war in Ukraine as of the morning of Thursday, August 29, amounted to another 1,200 occupiers. The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion has exceeded 612,000 military personnel, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 29m 2024, are estimated as follows:
- Personnel – around 612,390 (+1,200) eliminated;
- Tanks – 8,571 (+3) units;
- APV (Armored personnel vehicles) – 16,699 (+18) units;
- Artillery systems – 17,549 (+27) units;
- MLRS (Multiple launch rocket systems) – 1,174 units;
- Anti-aircraft warfare systems – 939 (+1) units;
- Aircraft – 368 units;
- Helicopters – 328 units;
- UAVs operational-tactical level – 14,369 (+21) units;
- Cruise missiles – 2,556 (+3) units;
- Warships/boats – 28 units;
- Submarines – 1 unit;
- Vehicles and fuel tankers – 23,706 (+52) units;
- Special equipment – 2,965 (+15) units.
Frontline situation in Ukraine
According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War as of August 29, Ukrainian forces have regained positions in the Siversk direction. Meanwhile, Russian occupiers are advancing near Kupyansk, Pokrovsk, Vuhledar, and within Toretsk.
Additionally, ISW reports that the advance of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region has slowed. Ukrainian troops are trying to consolidate and hold certain areas they recently captured.
