From the early hours of August 28, 182 combat clashes occurred on the front lines. Throughout the day, Russian troops actively attacked in the Pokrovsk, Kupiansk, Kurakhove, and Toretsk directions, according to the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian shelling

Throughout the day, Russians launched two missile strikes using two rockets and carried out 61 airstrikes, dropping 66 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, Russian troops employed 516 kamikaze drones and conducted approximately 3,000 shellings of our military positions and civilian settlements.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces twice unsuccessfully attempted to assault our positions in the areas of Vovchansk and Lyptsi.

According to the latest information, Ukrainian defenders in the Kharkiv sector eliminated or wounded 76 enemy troops, and destroyed two tanks, an artillery system, 32 UAVs, five vehicles, and seven pieces of special equipment. Additionally, nine artillery systems and three vehicles were damaged.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked our defensive positions 23 times near the settlements of Synkivka, Kolisnykivka, Stelmakhivka, and Kruhliakivka. The Defense Forces repelled 21 attacks. The situation remains tense, with two ongoing battles.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian defenders 13 times today in the areas of six different settlements. The most intense fighting occurred near Druzheliubivka and Novosadove, with three and four clashes, respectively.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy made four assault attempts to dislodge our defenders from their positions near Bilohorivka and Spirne. The fighting continues.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 11 attempts by Russian troops to advance. The enemy concentrated efforts, with support from attack aircraft, near Hryhorivka and, without air support, near Ivanivske and Klishchiivka.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops attacked our positions 20 times near New York, Nelipivka, Toretsk, and Druzhba, with 15 clashes already concluded. Fighting continues near New York and Nelipivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy is focusing its main efforts on advancing. Throughout the day, Russian troops attacked our positions 59 times. Over half of these clashes occurred near Novohrodivka and Hrodivka.

Preliminary estimates suggest that today, the Russian army lost 135 troops killed and 177 wounded in this sector. Three vehicles and an armored personnel carrier (APC) were destroyed. Ukrainian defenders also significantly damaged two artillery systems and two vehicles.

In the Kurakhove direction, 30 enemy attacks have been recorded so far today, with half of them ongoing. Most of the fighting is taking place near Karlivka, while Russian troops are also attempting to advance near Kostiantynivka, and Heorhiivka, suffering losses.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops launched six assaults on our frontline positions near Vuhledar, Vodiane, and Kostiantynivka today. The fighting continues.

In the Orikhiv direction, two assaults by Russian troops were repelled near Robotyne and Novodanylivka.

In the Huliaipole and Prydniprovsk direction, enemy units did not conduct any offensive operations.

It is worth noting that military expert Oleksii Hetman stated that Russian forces are advancing without significant obstacles in the Pokrovsk direction due to the favorable terrain.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are expanding their control in the Kursk region and replenishing their exchange pool with new Russian prisoners.

On Wednesday, August 28, Russian forces struck the center of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region, damaging the city hall building.
