Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 21

There were 166 combat engagements in the frontline over the last day. Over a third of them took place in the Pokrovsk sector, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Over the past day, the missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted 15 attacks on the areas of concentration of Russian personnel and military equipment, 3 air defense systems, 3 artillery systems, a radar, and one other important Russian object.
Sectors
Kharkiv. Russia conducted offensive and assault operations in the vicinity of Lyptsi and Vovchansk 11 times.
Kupiansk. There were 15 combat engagements over the last day. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled Russian attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, and Stepova Novoselivka.
Lyman. Ukrainian troops repelled 18 Russian attacks in the areas of Makiivka, Novosadove, Hrekivka, and Dibrova.
Siversk. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 5 Russian attacks near Vyimka and Pereizne.
Kramatorsk. Ukrainian troops repelled 8 Russian attempts to advance near Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Ivanivske. The situation is under control.
Toretsk. With the support of bombers and attack aircraft, Russians tried to advance 24 times. They acted in the areas of New York, Nelipivka, Toretsk, and Zalizne.
Pokrovsk. Ukrainian defenders repelled 66 Russian attacks. Russia is trying to advance in the direction of Vozdvyzhenka, Mykhailivka, Kalynivka, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptyche, Skuchne and Zelene Pole.
Kurakhove. Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold back Russian troops in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka, where the Russian occupiers tried to break through Ukrainian defensive lines ten times.
Vremivka. Russia made 2 attempts to capture Ukrainian positions near Vodiane, Donetsk region.
Orikhiv. Russian units unsuccessfully tried to advance twice in the direction of Novodanylivka and near Mala Tokmachka.
Prydniprovskyi. The Russian invaders became more active, and the Ukrainian defenders repelled 5 attacks.
On the border with the Chernihiv region, the enemy maintains a military presence and conducts reconnaissance activities.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces also continue to conduct operations in the Kursk sector.
Pokrovsk
The Pokrovsk sector of the frontline has remained the most active area of the frontline over the past few months. This is where the Russian occupiers are concentrating their efforts.
To recap, local authorities and the military reported that the fighting had already reached 10-15 kilometers from the outskirts of the city. According to the Pokrovsk city military administration, more than 50,000 people still live in the city. The authorities assume that people have a week or two to evacuate.
