Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 18

As of 16:00 on August 18, 81 combat engagements took place in the frontline over the last day, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The situation was the most intense in the Pokrovsk sector, where the enemy attempted to attack 24 times, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 19 attacks.
Enemy shelling
Today, enemy artillery and mortar fire hit the areas of Shalyhyne, Slavhorod, Porozok, Bilopillia, Tymofiivka, Velyka Pysarivka, Pokrovka, Kamin, and Liskivshchyna. In addition, the Russians launched three air strikes, dropping five glide bombs, on Golyshivske, Basivka, and Yunakivka in the Sumy region.
Situation on the frontlines
In the Kharkiv direction, two firefights took place near Vovchansk and Lyptsi, where one battle is currently underway.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted nine offensives in Hlushkivka, Stelmakhivka, and Synkivka. Five attacks are currently underway.
There were 11 combat engagements in the Lyman direction. The enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Hrekivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Terny, Novosadove, and Torske. Ten battles were completed, and one is still ongoing.
In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped an enemy assault near Verkhnekamianske.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the invading army was advancing toward Hryhorivka, Kalynivka, Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka, and Predtechyno. A total of eight firefights took place, three of which are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russians attacked 15 times near Zalizne, Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Nelipivka. Fourteen attacks were repelled, and one more is ongoing. In addition, the invaders launched two air strikes on Dachne and Druzhba.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russians conducted 24 assault operations in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Zelene Pole, Myroliubivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptyche, Novohrodivka, Zavitne, and Mykhailivka. The Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the onslaught of Russian troops and repelled 19 attacks, five clashes are still ongoing. Enemy losses in this area are being clarified. The enemy also conducted five air strikes, dropping two glide bombs on Kalynove and launching missiles towards Oleksandropil.
In the Kurakhove direction, the invaders attacked six times without success near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka, and Paraskoviivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy stormed Ukrainian positions four times near Rozdolne and Vodiane, where one firefight is currently underway.
In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, the Russians, using aviation, launched two air strikes on the areas of Dolyna and Kamianske.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russians were defeated as a result of a firefight.
The situation in other frontline areas remained unchanged.
Over the last day, from August 17 to 18, Russian troops lost 1170 soldiers at the front. In total, the losses during the full-scale war amounted to 599,350 soldiers. Also, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 7 tanks and 71 artillery systems yesterday.
