The number of combat engagements increased to 75 since the beginning of the day on August 16. One third of all the fighting took place in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Situation in the directions

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian forces assaulted the positions of Ukrainian troops eight times in the areas of Vovchansk and Lyptsi. The battle is still ongoing in Vovchansk.

In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attacked seven times. The attacks on Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka and Andriivka were repelled by the Defense Forces. The attack on Lozova is still ongoing.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian troops attacked the areas of Makiivka, Nevske and Torske. In total, there have been six engagements in this direction since the beginning of the day, and the battle near Makiivka is still ongoing.

In the Siversk direction, the enemy tried to push Ukrainian troops back seven times near Verkhniokamianske, Spirne and Pereyizne. All attacks were repelled.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russian forces carried out three assault operations near Hryhorivka and Chasiv Yar. Two of these engagements are ongoing.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian troops carried out eight attacks. Six combat engagements were completed.

The highest number of combat engagements is in the Pokrovsk direction. Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has made 23 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Vodiane, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka and other settlements. Six battles are still ongoing.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Russian army attacked nine times and tried to advance near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Oleksandrivka and Kostiantynivka.

In the Vremivka direction, one enemy attack towards Kostiantynivka was repelled.

In the Orikhiv direction, in the area of Mala Tokmachka, the enemy attacked once, this attack was repelled.

One enemy attack was repelled in the Prydniprovskyi direction.

Russia's losses in the war

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost almost 597 thousand personnel.

Over the past day, August 15, the Defense Forces destroyed another 1,330 Russian soldiers, as well as:

  • 12 tanks;
  • 35 armored combat vehicles;
  • 59 artillery systems and more.
