Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 15

Since the beginning of the day, August 15, 68 combat engagements took place on the frontline. Most of the fighting was recorded in the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, five firefights took place near Lyptsi, Starytsia and Vovchansk. Two battles were completed, three more are ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted five offensives towards Hlushkivka, Andriivka, Kruhliakivka, Stelmakhivka and Berestove. Three firefights are currently ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy assaulted the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Makiivka and Nevske. Ukrainian defense forces stopped all four attacks.
In the Siversk direction, six battles took place during the day. The Russian army was advancing toward Spirne, Pereizne, and Verkhniokamianske, where one battle is currently underway.
In the Kramatorsk direction, there were two firefights near Chasiv Yar, as a result of which the Russian troops were defeated.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army increased the number of attacks to 10. It attacked near Zalizne, New York and Toretsk. Eight attacks were repelled, two more are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian troops carried out 23 assault actions in the areas of Panteleimonivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Kalynove, Zelene Pole, Novotoretske, Mykolaivka, Novohrodivka and Skuchne. Ukrainian defenders are holding back the onslaught of Russian troops and repelled 15 attacks, eight firefights are still ongoing.
In the Kurakhove direction, the Russian forces attacked seven times without success near Krasnohorivka, Kostiantynivka and Heorhiivka.
In the Vremivka direction, the enemy assaulted the positions of Ukrainian defenders three times in the areas of Mykilske and Rivnopillia. These attempts were unsuccessful.
In the Orikhiv direction, a firefight took place near Mala Tokmachka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian forces were defeated twice while attacking Ukrainian defense lines.
Russia's losses in war against Ukraine
Over the past day, according to the General Staff, the Defense Forces eliminated 1220 Russian soldiers. Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has lost more than 595,000 personnel. Also yesterday, the following military equipment was destroyed:
- 8 tanks;
- 24 armored combat vehicles and more.
