Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 14
Since the start of the day on August 14, there have been 153 combat engagements on the frontline. Russian forces are concentrating their efforts on the Pokrovsk direction, attempting to attack Ukrainian troops 55 times today, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy shelling
Throughout the day, the enemy launched five missile strikes using five missiles, conducted 42 airstrikes, and dropped 47 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, the occupiers deployed 565 kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out more than 3,000 shellings on Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas using various types of weapons.
Frontline situation
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces, supported by aviation, launched four assaults on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Vovchansk and Sotnytskyi Kozachok. Fighting continues in two locations within Vovchansk.
"According to available information, Ukrainian defenders in the Kharkiv direction have eliminated or wounded over 70 Russian soldiers, destroyed a tank, five armored fighting vehicles, an artillery system, 30 UAVs, two vehicles, and three pieces of special equipment. Additionally, four artillery systems and six vehicles were damaged," the report stated.
The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions nine times in the Kupiansk direction. Near the settlements of Synkivka, Petropavlivka, and Berestove, the Defense Forces repelled eight offensive actions. The situation remains tense, with one combat engagement ongoing.
In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defenders 15 times throughout the day in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, and Terni. Two combat engagements are currently ongoing.
The situation is also tense in the Siversk direction. The enemy attempted 24 assaults to dislodge Ukrainian defenders from positions in the areas of Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, and Vyiimka. Seven combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled five attempts by the occupiers to advance near Chasiv Yar and Andriivka. Four attacks were repelled, and one battle is still in progress.
In the Toretsk direction, where the Russian army, supported by aviation, attacked Ukrainian positions near New York, Toretsk, and Pivnichne 21 times, 18 combat engagements have ended, with fighting continuing in three locations.
The enemy is concentrating its main efforts in the Pokrovsk direction, where the Russian forces attacked Ukrainian units 55 times daily. The greatest activity was observed in Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, and Zhelanne. Ukrainian defenders have already repelled 40 attacks, with 15 combat engagements ongoing.
"Today, the Russian army in this direction lost over 250 military personnel killed and wounded, as well as a tank, a multiple launch rocket system, two armored fighting vehicles, and seven vehicles. Ukrainian defenders also inflicted significant damage on two artillery systems, two armored fighting vehicles, and three enemy vehicles," the General Staff noted.
In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy assaults. The Russian army attempted to advance near Kostyantynivka and Krasnohorivka. The battle near Krasnohorivka is ongoing, and the situation remains under control.
In the Vremivka direction, the Russian army launched six assaults on the forward defense lines towards Vodiane and Vuhledar. Ukrainian troops stopped four enemy attacks, with two assaults still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy conducted three unsuccessful attacks in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Novodanylivka.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, five enemy assault actions failed. No positions were lost.
Today, the General Staff commended the effective combat performance of the soldiers from the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
